From that high you could elbow drop all of Ravenholm.
I hate Prototype now. It seems to be furthering games into an area I don’t want them to go in.
That’s pretty vague.
To the point where it comes off sounding pretty dumb.
Perhaps to save face you should elaborate?
You must be a youngin’.
That’s what I thought. Prototype’s going back to the roots more than anything else.
Indeed, a game just for fun, a decent story, not concerened with ‘zomg super gfx everythun is real’.
EDIT: Finished the game today, total of 16,000,000 EP and only died 11 times in the entire game.
Woo.
What I meant was I don’ t want games to go into an area of easy no-brain killing. I enjoyed the in small amounts when I bought it, but the constant killing and repetitive gameplay got old fast. I don’t think that it brings anything new to the already crowded table.
I like games with alot of atmosphere surrounding some kick-ass gameplay and origionality. Like Half-Life 1+2 or Portal.
HL 1+2 are mostly no-brain killing, yet remain terribly fun.
Different games fall into different niches. That’s like saying I don’t like sports games because I don’t like the direction they take games. I thought the combat evolved nicely myself. Didn’t really find it repetitive because the abilities gave you differing fighting styles. There is new and more difficult enemies as you progress too. What would you have preferred combat wise?
Infamous has that silly good/evil extreme variances I hate, and limited fighting. Id’ say it’s far more open than other games suiting it’s genre like assassins creed (though I did like that game) and it has far better combat.
Plus there’s the actual parcour element which plays a great part. And the disguise element isn’t too small a part either.
I fully disagree. They both have an incredible atmosphere, topped off with well thought out puzzles and outstanding level design. They are not just senseless killing.
I guess it wasn’t the right wording to say that it was taking games in the wrong direction.
The only reason I said that is because I am not happy with the rise of these games like Prototype, with little connection to the game, characters and plot.
Also to MaxTheLimit I don’t think it’s the combat system it’s self that I dislike, it’s more the repetitive level design and missions, and the lack of good atmosphere to the killing.
Can you explain to me what puzzles there were in Half Life 1? Except for working out how to kill bosses (which it often told you how to do anyway) there weren’t really any puzzles that I could see, though correct me if I’m wrong on this. I think that they were more fun because they had excellent story lines, but thats just me
The atmosphere in Prototype isn’t to be sniffed it. It isn’t on par with HL 1+2, to be sure, but it’s still good. When moving into an infected zone, the transition can be quite dramatic (screams fill the air, and a red haze descends over the buildings, occasionally dotted with fires). Also, there’s a great variety of missions in Prototype, such as infiltration, hunting/chasing targets or doing a timed run.
I found that the plot was quite interesting too, especially with the web of intrigue (a simple but effective system). The couple of twists in the story were also pleasantly unexpected, and I found myself feeling for Mercer by the end of it.
I really have no idea where you’re getting these ideas from.
I quite agree with soup, I had no Idea what all those people that were saying it had no story were on about.
If you ask me, it looks like an acrobatic GTAIV with godmode.
I think it looks lame…
Good thing we didn’t ask you then.
It’s what most people think at first, but then they actually play the game so they have an opinion that isn’t based on your stupid nature to formulate a preconceived notion of something you don’t know. The game itself is really fun, the story isn’t the greatest but it is pretty bad-ass, but what the game was actually shooting for was “GTAIV with god-mode, on steroids, walking off in a cool camera shot of the whole solar system exploding behind it”. And just when you feel you couldn’t be more of a bad-ass, you body-surf an old lady on the street.
The only things it’s got in common with GTA4 are that it’s free roam, and in a city. Oh, and you do missions.
Can everyone under 17 stop posting plz.
You have no idea how a real game works.
IT’S MADE FOR FUN.
Not zomg awsum grfx, zomg that story was super great and detailed they must have a super writer or holy balls its a insert game name here ripoff.
Get over yourself, if you don’t play games to have fun, your doin it wrong.
No one has said any of those things.
We all know that graphics and story don’t make a good game.
Also everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
