Prototype

so what do you think about it? is it worth the 50 dollars? Im rather torn, I loved assasins creed, is it anything like it? just looking for your likes and dislikes about it. thanks in advance.

I’m also kind of iffy on even considering this for a rental, it’s entirely possible that it could be amazing, on the other hand, if it’s a case where they throw out game mechanics in favour of the flash, it could get redundant very quickly.

Looking forward to hearing from those daring enough to give it a good play through, and I really must check out Assassin’s Creed.

well, acording to all the reviews flash ISN’T one of their top priorities. lack of diverse scenery seems to be one of the only drawbacks however.

and as jambo has pointed out, you can karate kick helicopters.

Assassin’s Creed is great!.. for about 4 hours. After that, it’s boring and repetitive. I couldn’t even finish it! I spent more time playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake Live then I did Assassin’s Creed durring the week I rented it!
So yes, rental it is!

I’m generally not one to trust reviews of games (really it all started with the very good reviews MK:Shaolin Monks got, and that game was abysmal).

If this is a straight up button masher I’m going to have to pass on it, also, something else that has become increasingly common in games and just not that great a mechanic is quick time events, I suspect there will be a bunch of those.

I’ll wait out decently written reviews by anyone who chooses to do so in this thread.

@ John Killer118, a shame to hear that (about the latter part of the remark), it is visually stunning and considering the platforming elements borrowed from the Prince of Persia series I figured there would be more than enough variety in gameplay. I have a deep respect for Ubisoft, though they seem to have become a bit more compromising in their development philosophy in recent years.

I personally quite enjoyed assasin’s creed. it did get repetitive but not so much for me to quit playing it. also once you finish, you can go back and are alowed to kill as many civillians as you want without penalty.

if prototype is like assasins creed, I will buy it without hesitation.

Basically, it’s Hulk Ultimate Destruction with a better storyline and moves.

And yes, there are plenty of quick time events in battle and I assume quickly pressing 1-4 to disable something is considered quick time.

well, I think I’ll get it at the end of the month unless steam puts it on sale before that. it has good enough reviews to have my interests peaked. [COLOR=‘Silver’]in truth, I just really want to karate kick a helicopter.

Prototype has great gameplay and fluid animations, but… the visuals are just awful.

This pretty much sums it up very well.

The IGN review makes me rage.

Loved the game, it was great crazy over the top fun and I still play it after I’ve finished.

Fantastic game. Once you think the storyline is over, boom, it isn’t and a whole mess of new moves are unlocked for you. There really isn’t much repetitiveness in the gameplay at all, the only real drag is how much the enemy types repeat, and the incredible amounts of combos means you won’t remember a third of them, and another third of them are way too awkward to press right in combat. But the parkour aspect is incredible. Most well-done and fun in any game to date, probably because the only other game that did it well was Assassins Creed and that game was too realistic to allow such silly things as running along walls, backflipping off, and elbow dropping a helicopter a few stories below. :3

fun game with no story and shitty graphics, nothing special, but the gameplay is nice ;]

haha nice. yep. I didn’t wait till the end of the month, is downloading off steam as we speak. thanks guys.

Yup, awesome game. And I think I enjoy running and beating the crap out of pedestrians even more than doing actual missions.

It is now 2012
Prototype 2 is coming out
Prototype was fun I guess.

This game is surprisingly fun.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Okay, so the game gets maddeningly hard towards the end. Like, impossible. There are just so many damn missiles and soldiers and tanks and mutants and buffed-up soldiers coming at you at once, it’s impossible to fight them off! The beginning of the game is far better than the end. :’(
