Proposing a standard for the logo of the Black Mesa Research Facility

Fellow citizens!

Inspired by inconsistencies of official Black Mesa Research Facility logos and their fan-made counterparts, I am proposing a standard to the community which will allow every member to easily create a decent Black Mesa Research Facility logo in vector or raster format that will very closely resemble Valve’s official logos.

In other words, this is done to avoid abominations such as this one:

So, here it is. It is based on the BMRF logos found in the files of Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Half-Life: Episode Two. I’ve spent some time comparing and averaging different versions and came to the conclusion that these are the optimal dimensions for creating a BMRF logo.

The height of 50 units of the facility’s “roof” in the logo is influenced by the latest available official logo (lobby from EP2) - all other (older) logos have a height of about 52 units. The width of outer circle (8 units) is also from the EP2 logo, older logos have the width of about 9 units.

The slope, however, has a minor difference compared to EP2 and resembles more to the logo on Alyx’s sweater in Half-Life 2 than the logo from EP2. I was going to explain why, but this post is tl;dr enough as it is.

Result:

Note: the standard is not complete and is subject to changes.

Nice work dude.

What

Thanks dude.

I’m trying to be productive, as opposed to SOME members of this forum. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have no idea how you did that so, good work my friend.

Good job, hope many more guys will use it.

Nice!

Also, is there a standard for the lambda symbol?

Thanks guys.

I did it in Inkscape.

Not yet, but I will make it. Bscly when I needed a Lambda symbol I just used the one from Half-Life 2 font (letter A)

EDIT: also, take a look at this.

And I’ve thought Picasso was dead. Damn, should go out more often :retard:

I might be able to find a use for that standard logo…
Maybe I’ll finish my DVD cover…

I dont care. That logo is awful anyway.

Is the actual BM logo up to that standard? :3

No.

Nicely done.
(now do one for the lambda :stuck_out_tongue: )

Nice job! …hmmm… doesn’t that look a lot like the Prudential logo? hmmm… NAAAH!

Am I doing it right?

Yeah, I was bored…

Mmm, well, it seems I will have to make a few changes to my avatar.
