Prop 8 - Unconstitutional

So, the court in California has just ruled: Proposition 8 is unconstitutional.

Discuss.

AMERICAW FUCK YEAH

this is good

if the appeal goes well this might set a precedent for future cases, too

Who even cares about sexual preference any more? Within 20 years people will be fucking everything that moves without even thinking about it.

FUUUUCCCKKKK YEEEEAAAHHHH.

I’m listening to the Village People to celebrate.

apparently, lots of people (shitheads) still do

Florida’s identical Prop 2, mostly. We can only hope.

Thank fucking god.

But I thought God hates fags

only according to fundamentalists

No, no, that’s a typo. God hates figs. Look what Jesus did to that fig tree.

Admittedly it was a slacker though.

Next thing you know, they’ll be allowed to vote.

personally, I’m against gay marriage, sorry guys. I’m no God Hates Fags guy, but I think gay marriage is wrong. judging by the popular opinion of this thread, I’m about to get a serious flaming, but can we agree to disagree on this one?

i heard that there was a 2 headed gay and the 2 heads married eachother. makes u think huh

I’m just curious why you disagree. No flaming intended, but I’ve always been extremely curious as to why someone would be against other people marrying.

thats ok then  good question. basically, the general idea for most christians taking the same perspective as me is that marriage was instituted by God as a sacred union of love between man and woman and that allowing gay couples to wed is a perversion and a re-defining of this. we (most of us anyway) bear no malice or ill intent against homosexuals and are sorry for the offence we cause, but we will hold to our beliefs of the sanctity of marriage. again I apologise for any harm caused, we mean no offence to anyone (with one exception:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOrz5k0jWdU) but our intent is to defend marriage, and we will do so.

Except that marriage isn’t Christian.

If this is true, stop using a book written a long time ago to justify treating people as a second class citizens. Would you be ok with christians being treated as second class citizens because another book said so?

It’s rare I agree with something you’ve said but yes. Of course marriage existed for a long time before the Christians turned up. The whole sanctity of marriage thing only really applies to marriages conducted as a Christian ceremony with appropriate vows.

Marriage itself is defined (by Wikipedia I know, I know, it’s just convenient OK?) as:

Which is the kind of marriage I can believe in.
