Project Natal

amirite?

Screw Natal.

https://www.engadget.com/2009/06/02/sony-announces-new-ps3-motion-controller/

Sony have got the goods.

^This

And did MS show an IRL Natal demo? I recall they didn’t.
Look @ E3 conference demo. The girl does way more movements than an avatar on the screen. Scripted much?
Look at gizmondo vid and photos. These show nothing but the two guys.

Ambitious, but will suck passionately.

Sony, on the other hand, has SHOWN us that their dildo… uh, stuff actually works.

Say what? Wait, are you telling us that a regular consumer would be able to BUY this top-secret military shit? Eh… for what money? Stop bullshitting us.

p.S.

HAI! you can now jerk off… virtually
interactive porn make it happen dun dun dun!

p.p.S. look at the “trailer” closely.

I think we have a full picture now.

yeah its good to know taht wre you live time stoppedin 1970, last time i checked infrared shit was insterted even into your shoes ;f And the rest is about softwere, wich is pretty cheap to copy …

You missing the whole point.
The subject is not the fucking infrared. The subject is that the processor is being oh-so-smart and able to process 48 points in 3d, simultaneosly, hyper-precision, in realtime, no lags. Plus voice recognition and body temperature.

And not to mention numerous holes in the whole concept from the point of actual gaming.

EDIT: OK. They showed the screen now.

Still, not really impressive. When they gonna show decent and adequate FPS footage, I will be impressed.

the probabilty to not include fps support is pretty high…

that’s what making it meh.
Sony’s dildoz0rz are much more preferable from this standpoint.

But I must agree, provided with a reasonable price (which I really really doubt), xbox sales will skyrocket.

If you think about it, sony are actually trying to improve from the wiimote’s range of usability making an attempt to provide more hardcore experience, while microsoft is just trying to take over the casual market, which is well, good marketing step, just usual shit for MS.

I wonder if MS actually stands for ‘Marketing is the Shit’, huh?

if they want to sell this soon, it must work …
Also why casual ? Thy were showing this technology working in some recent hardcore games, check gamterailers for more info, the redactors there confirm everything works and isnt any bullshit.

Numerous game journalists played Natal at E3, it does in fact exist IRL.

I may like controllers but the bright side of Sony and MS getting into motion control is, Nintendo won’t be able to get away with using last-gen hardware any more/

they arent, they will relase wii balance board plus, and then wii will be even mopre next genier

fixed

And still, no actual visual proof on how actually good and responsive it is for “hardcore”. Hype is not a good thing, never was.
MS is announcing stuff way before they can show a decent and believable performance. Why the stupid rush?
I bet it would still be as ambitious on E3 2010 as it is right now. Plus it would have much more impact.
Just look at it like this: when Sony and Nintendo thought they were safe… BAM!
heh, I think I was too early on how good MS is at marketing.

And blue : Editors, not redactors. Are you somewhere from Russia? Cuz redaktor in russian is for editor in english.

EDIT: And I don’t believe that they didn’t do anything with burnout. Well, maybe it has the same input system (from a hardware standpoint) that helps to register specific body movements right in options menu. But then, there are countless random combinations of movements which it would register. What if I step a millimeter to the right to the position I registered? Or if another person tries to play? Thus, precision would be rather a downside than an advantage. That way, it would end up as limited set of pre-registered movements which they tried to deny so hard at the conference.

In addition, face recognition so advanced would be more believable in high-security institutions rather than ain your house in the first place.
Seing how those institutions still don’t get it… well, maybe they do, but it’s not revealed to the public anyway… seing this, how can technology so advanced be brought to the casual level first?

It like MS saying “oh hey, we deliver super-advanced motion detecting cameras before even CIA (you name it) can get one”.

In short, my point is being if it’s so advanced as microsoft implies, it would be way too expensive for most of the market. And where would the sales go in that case?
Thus, it cannot be so smart.

i think you are not getting ho does it wiork, it creates a virtual rig for your body, and then uses soem fancy algoritsm to recognize the movment, even if other ppl will go in front of it, or you will go out of the camera partially, it will still only track your movment. your home motion capture studio ;D

Although I am more of a Sony fanboi, I fail to see how Sony’s new motion controller is any different to Wii’s MotionControl Plus. Except for the fact that Sony use the Eyetoy and Wii use a sensor bar to track movements. What Microsoft have developed blows away anything from Nintendo or Sony at this point, in terms of interactivity.

Please learn English.

I was not talking about this shit.
How does BURNOUT understand what to do without additional coding?

Erm, yeah…
Explain me this then, why do directors still use this to motion capture for 3d cutscenes:

ODB what are you bitching about? MS has shown that it’s PN works with existing games. Sony only showed that it worked with their demo software and even then it couldn’t accurately depict his body on screen. Have you noticed that it didn’t matter how his body moved, only how he was holding the controller? Lame wii shit.

At least it works as they imply it should do.
All we have seen on MS case yet is that it’s capable for doing some casual gaming stuff, nothing more. Just like a more advanced EyeToy, if you want. Again, hype is not a good thing.
Unless MS Natal shows that it can pull out half of the stuff Sony controller can do, with the same precision and reaction time, I’m not impressed by an iota.
And yeah - stop fucking hating.

And once more, I was merely wondering:

Recognizes the game that’s in the drive, accesses it’s database on how to interpret movements, recognizes the hands, interprets them to control pad movements, and then sends them to the game.

There’s going to be a ton of coding inside the sensor, but none in the actual game.

Well looks like microsoft is gonna have a gooooooooood time coding for the Natal, hehe.
How many games there are currently out for xbox 360?
And that’s even more stuff on Natal’s processor. I’m starting to feel a bit worried about the price, really.
better hope it’s under 500, not over 9000

Not hating, just disputing that Sony’s is better. Sony has always been better at making their products look good. IMO Sony’s tv commercials are infinitely better than MS’s. However, I also know that the reality doesn’t always live up to the hype which is what you’re saying about MS. However, I think that MS has one-upped Sony by proving that the technology works and that it isn’t so processor intensive that it slows the games to a crawl.

Just in case you didn’t know, they have done realtime tests with several games, which showed the wireframe on one screen and the actual gameplay on the other screen.

Edit: You are probably right about the price. Expect Sony to sell theirs at a much more reasonable price. MS is infamous for rip-off prices on accessories. See $100 wi-fi attachment.

Certainly, this is love.

Links if you’d be so kind?

And still, Natal looks gimmicky and casual as hell. Even more than a wiimote
