Project Natal

I don’t know if this is the official name. But it looks bloody awesome.

I like controllers : /

Sure…

And what if someone walks in front of the TV? :fffuuu:

it will fail, lol

Actually, unlike onLive, I hope it doesn’t. It’s quite the revolutionary piece of technology already, I’m pretty sure it has a bright future ahead of it, if not for extensive gaming, at least for Minority Report style navigation in a wide line of products (not just the Xbox), which will be totally rad.

What I would like to see this used for is to supplement standard controls… specifically, it would be neat to be able to lean and look around corners in FPS games by leaning IRL.

Never thought of that. That sounds like fun.

Apparently it doesn’t cause any problems. It also works in fairly low light situations. Kotaku and Gizmodo have both tested it with the Breakout game that was shown at E3 and the racing game Burnout Paradise in realtime.

Keep in mind that Burnout Paradise wasn’t even built for Project Natal in the first place.

U kiddin me?

I thought this was a tech demo, something like those “how Microsoft envisions the future” that they were showing off. They have a working one of these?

Badass.

The concept is extremely cool, but the family in that video look freakin’ retarded jumping around and steering in thin air.

I can’t imagine playing more hardcore games on natal. I think the sony motion controllers will be better for the real gamer. I was really impressed with sony’s press conference.

I might get it for the “lulz”

I wonder if I can play Half Life 2 with it.

Wondering about shooters. Do you run around the room and hide behind the couch? How do you shoot, I doubt it tracks finger movements.

Microsoft: Project Natal Can Support Multiple Players, See Fingers

You would need some kind of controller combination for a shooter probably. Sony has those little wand thingies, but you might as well just use the controllers you already have. Plus Sony’s doesn’t seem to be able to render your body as it really is. It looks like a drunken corpse.

i can’t fucking sit with my arms streched out like that while playing nfs for more then 30 mins , and i play for like 2-3 hours sometimes… :-/

It would only be cool for first person games, with no view models. So if that kid can scan his board, i can scan a nerf gun and use it for halo or something.

So you could scan your dog and use him a a machine gun if you wanted?

the ocncept is cool, but i think it will be unconfortable, and there will be none real supprort for hardcore games ;]

it’s like , microsoft’s wee [ wii ]

Lol they will probably include a “classic controller” function where you put your hands out and play as though you have a controller…yes this comment was a joke…

If this is the future of console gaming then I’m 110% behind it… because I’m never going to give up my mouse and keyboard. Keep mediocre people doing mediocre things in order to play mediocre games.
