I should play Amnesia. I’ve been interested in playing a good horror game.
I watched a let’s play of that game, and it was fucking terrifying. It was genuinely good horror, not just jump scares like DS2. (Which is the only horror game I’ve actually played, now that I think about it).
You guys should play the Penumbra games too. I can’t wait till A Machine for Pigs is released.
Edit: Some NS2. Game is pretty fun.
I played Nightmare House 2 and very much enjoyed it. How does it compare to Amnesia?
A very different game; no combat, less enemies, more scares, more puzzles, more fun
Basically they’re both horror games and that’s it, nothing else is the same
Well, NH2 likes to play with your expectations. Such as (in the near invisible text) [COLOR=’#151515’]the dummies which are strewn about but if you look away from them and then turn back around to look at them, they’re all suddenly turned to look at you. Or, one of your teammates looking at you through a window but when you enter the room, he’s been replaced by another dummy, then you turn around and suddenly there’s a jumpscare.
I liked that about NH2. Wonder if they have anything similar in Amnesia. I’d have to pick up a copy if they do something like that.
…wait, did you say Amnesia has no combat? Weird.
Looks interesting. It’s called “Amnesia: Dark Descent”, correct? It appears that Steam has it for a 50% off sale for $9.99. If so, I might be forced to pull out the credit card…
If that happens, I might post some screenshots here.
Wasn’t it on Humble Bundle once?
Amnesia has no combat. It’s all about, “Oh fuck, I heard a footstep, time to hide in this cabinet and cry for ten minutes.”
Edit: fucking ninja page again.
That’s pretty. Looks like a great backdrop for air battles, and I guess mech battles too.
Well there are Aerospace fighters (BattleTech Jet equivalent) and VTOLs so it does make for some spectacular fireworks when you see enemies dogfighting/bombarding mechs and ground forces.
Huh.
I’d be interested in this mod now if not for the “cryengine” part.
It runs a lot better then Crysis 1 SP does, so if you can run that ok this will run pretty smooth.
It actually runs (and looks IMO) better then Mechwarrior Online, which is on Cryengine 3 - which is odd because it has bigger maps and way higher playercounts.
Inb4 no screenshots because he’s too terrified while playing the game to take any. It is a really nice game though, I got confused on what to do on some parts though. Need to beat the Justine DLC still. I think I got to the third room or something.
Third room? Do you mean big rooms, with puzzles in them, or is it really just that scary?
Edit: @Kair
I died in the third room. The way Justine works is you start in a room and listen to an audio recording with a little background and then have to find a way to save, or not the person in that room. The easiest way is to just kill them but it’s possible to save them all. I killed the first two people but then died on the third part.
Don’t you have other friends?
