Post your 'puter

Gettin two GTX 295 would be cheaper. Im savin up for two 5870s and an i7 860 to replace my q6600 and two 4890s.

What the fuck. And I thought my 5770 cost a lot.

Isn’t ONE 5870 enough to run crysis at the HIGHEST settings at 2560x1600? which is what, 1.5 times your resolution?

Edit: only if you count 20fps as playable. But still, massive overkill.

I can build a PC for 400$ that can play crysis at 60FPS.

What monitor will you be using with that?

One 1920x1080 and one 1680x1050. I haven’t gotten the 1920x1080 one yet, but im gonna use some best buy gift cards i got lyin around to get it.

That’s because you steal half the hardware.

Oh thank god. I see way too many tools who buy SLI systems with 12GB of RAM and then have a 22" LCD >_<

i7 is overkill too, go i5.

Overkill is a good thing.

Well I only bought my mobo and CPU, which I replaced for free since then, But I meant I would pay 400$ if I actually bought the hardware.

^This^

I see “Overkill” as “Future-Proofing”

Ahhahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahhahaaahahahahahahahahaha

Pay $1000 for high end parts
Cry when you see them 4 months later for $200

fix’d

Not 4 years. At all.

At release last year the 4870 was selling for a minimum of $299.
Now it is as low as $125. That is less than half the price in a year…
GTX 280 last year was minimum $650 at release. Now, you can hardly find it, but it’s around 300 where you can.

Fix’d.

True, but not 4 months either.

I guess it’s worse than I thought then.
My 4870x2 was 400 euros at the release slightly more than a year ago, and it’s still 330 now.
