Portal Gun in EP3

how incredibly awesome would that be? i would cum-lol-rofl-over 9000 if they put that into EP3. ive played a mod in Half life 2: EP 2 where you could use the portal gun and though it made it incredibly easy, it was incredibly fun too. i keep saying incredibly…

I always wanted to play HL2 with the portal gun. I didn’t know it was actually possible :fffuuu:

Thread of the year.

Jokerine, google it.

When I mentioned this before the forum crash there was a lot of negative feedback about the idea. I have no clue why.

Having said that, now that we know there’s going to be a Portal 2 and it’s supposedly not going to be contained within the same type of environment as the first (I think there was mention of more recognizable environments it will be used in or some such) I’m not sure how likely the appearance will be in Episode 3.

I still think it would be key should the final Episode end up taking Gordon to the Combine home dimension, considering the Advisors have such an incredibly different anatomical structure than humans I would think there would be little in the way of orthodox environments.

I personally think that that’s a bad idea, because the 2 atmospheres don’t mix well. Having said that, they’ve linked the two very close together, and it’s a likelyhood that they may incorporate it in . Maybe they will cross over. It’s possible, but it will be a hard feat to pull off.

Well, there is a large difference between the completely contained atmosphere of Portal vs the wide open atmosphere of Half-Life 2, so I can see why the contrast in that regard could be so well defined. About them not mixing at all though, I disagree with.

Gordon Freeman is a man of Science and crowbars, not Portal Guns. He’s already got a gravity gun for now.

Perhaps when Half-Life 3 comes out, we can get a broken/modified version that needs to be charged here and there.

Come to think of it, Half-Life 3 with a gravity Gun that you can charge up for about 30 seconds and then you wait a few minutes for it to recharge, THAT would kick ass.

Yes, Portal Guns have no place in any field of science. cough

We know what you’re doing. And you’re doing it wrong.

As for trolling, he must be doing something right, seeing the number of people that fell for it.

Lol I found out how to do it by myself.

Good lord…the amount of times i have heard this…

Portal gun would ruin the game.

Yes, it would. But after the news of Left 4 Dead 2, I wouldn’t put it past valve to cram it into the game somehow. All of the games they have made (that I’ve played) to date have been awesome, but they’re heading down a bad path, and I’m only expecting things to get worse.

They wouldn’t and i wouldn’t want them to put the portal gun in a Half-Life game. The gun is basically the prime plot device of portal and obviously portal 2, why would they have something which is the whole point of one game put as one of a crapload of weapons for another game? It would ruin the whole point of portal.

Doug Lombardi on Portal: we just built a really cool test bed, just to see if people would dig it as much as we did.

There’s also another interview where one of the Valve staff mention that Portal was a a way to train gamers to think outside the proverbial box in regards to a game such as Portal, they went on to say that they retained the Aperture Science training environment only because they thought that gamers wouldn’t be able to put things together in say, an urban setting.

Aside from the tidbits of backstory you get while playing through Portal, I definitely got the impression that I was training for something.

So yeah, you missed the point of Portal, but that’s cool. After figuring out some of the things I could do with the Portal gun in tandem with the Dark Energy orb launchers (namely destroying turrets in absolutely awesome ways) I definitely wanted to have my own arsenal to be able unleash through the portal.

But, I suppose that will be what Portal 2 is for.

They see me trollin’…They hatin’…

Who came up with that, anyway?

No where in that article does it allude to there being any elements of portal in future HL installments.
