Portal 2 microtransactions?

Co-op bot gestures are being sold. TF2 hats appear in Portal 2.

And then the s**t hit the fan in the comments section.

Well, what do you think? :stuck_out_tongue:

This is the one thing they did VERY wrong with Portal 2.

They make a perfect game, and add a feature that is unnecessary.

Honestly, I just canā€™t bring myself to care about having the option to buy purely cosmetic items for a video game. If some idiot wants to buy an item, more power to him. Personally, I just donā€™t care.

Its certainly not worth complaining about though. These are by no means gameplay enhancing or even valuable items, people should not care.

Why is it wrong?

Itā€™s an optional extra that isnā€™t forced on the user. It isnā€™t even that obvious in the main menu.

Clearly people love to buy shit in TF2, and Portal 2 has online co-op, so it makes sense that Valve would take the opportunity and put in a feature that people have been using heavily in their other games.

wait they donā€™t give you extra abilities? F that!!!

This.

Yeah, it isnā€™t bad for the gameplay or anything, thereā€™s just a ā€œStoreā€ button in Robot Enrichment, wich is at the BOTTOM of the menu. :3

They may be looking for different ways to monetize, so that pirates donā€™t knock them completely over to consoles.

I donā€™t mind, personally.

This

This

And this.

People need to stop getting mad at Valve for trying to make money. Itā€™s a company. Itā€™s what they do. More than that, Iā€™d argue that they have some of the best DLC possible in the TF2 and Portal 2 stores. Why? For one, itā€™s almost all cosmetic. So some guy has a hat. Are you missing out on any missions or gameplay, like you would be if you didnā€™t pay for Biowareā€™s DLC, or CoDā€™s map packs? No. And the weapons for TF2 you can find, craft, or trade for, so to use a new weapon you donā€™t have to shell out a cent. Second, itā€™s easy. Thereā€™s no registering, no downloading or installing, just a few clicks and the stuff is yours. The most youā€™d have to do is add funds to your Steam wallet, which is pretty easy since youā€™ve almost certainly got your card info already stored in Steam.

TL;DR - Valve gots to get dollas, and their way is actually pretty good.

I donā€™t care. Rather, my question is rather why does this fucking thing cost 54 fucking bucks?

ā€œ54 fucking bucksā€? What is ā€œthis fucking thingā€ to which youā€™re referring?

Also, I donā€™t mind extras costing a bit of extra money. More money to Valve = more games. I was saving up my pocket change for Portal 2 and will begin saving up again for HL2:E3 for when that comes out. I donā€™t really have any extra money for DLC but hey, others will and Iā€™m okay with that.

Portal 2 costs 38 whooping euros, as in 33 freaking quid, as in 54,70 fucking bucks.
And thatā€™s just for one game without any packaging whatsoever.

Orange box used to cost $40 on its release.

Ah, I thought you were referring to the DLC. Personally, I think Portal 2 is worth it, but thatā€™s just me.

While I can certainly justify buying a PS3 physical blu-ray copy for 50 euros, I think 25 euros is more than enough for just one game in electronic format, no matter who made it and how good it is.

But small wonder, seeing how wall street trades humongous sums for a piece of paper and a gallon of Brent costs fucking 121 bucks.

I had to pay 44ā‚¬ for my Portal 2.

ITT: White people having white people problems.

I didnā€™t have to pay nothing, but shipping is taking foreverā€¦ if you catch my drift.

hats ruin everything! the gameplay the atmosphere EVERYTHING
NOW THE GAME SUCKSSSSSS

get over it, itā€™s a pixel on top of your head, it wonā€™t stop you entering or exiting portals

yo, a bastard mullato child had to come and spoil the whole moment of derailing the freaking thread.
Fuck you.

Problem, cracker?
