Portal 2 Borealis

Probably the same portal device as the one that failed in Black Mesa.
This ‘‘Cave’’ guy in Portal 2 quotes that Black Mesa Research Facility had stolen their portal ideas… it’s fucking intriguing

Not to mention Aperture developed the Gravity gun. It’s true, just look closely in the Lab Rat comic and you’ll see it.

That gives zero evidence that Aperture created the gravity gun.

Also in the lab is the Combine health charger, so, who knows, from that I would say that the events even before Portal took place after or during the events of Half-life 2… since they are so deep down under and the escape hatch is a small little outhouse in the middle of a huge field.

Im not sure if this has been said because im lazy, but portal 2 is far after the events of hl2, so im pretty sure the borealis wouldn’t just be chillin in the drydock.

Except he said Portal, not Portal 2.

I read “The Final Hours of Portal 2” recently & it appears that’s not the case.

“Portal 1 took place somewhere around the year 2010, between the events of Half-Life 1 and 2”

You don’t need a secret passage. It’s seen right in the video.

Thats what ive been saying all the time.

Also the fact that the portal gun itself has some Gravity gun functionality.

And the same prongs on the front.

Well, there’s more than one way to skin an elephant, it’s not rocket surgery.

I think it was probably first built in that dock, then transferred to one in the new facility once that part of the labs was decommissioned. That explains the logo difference and why there weren’t bits of the dock missing.

now that’s something that actually makes sense!

Page 14, panel 4. On the table. THERE IT IS.

The point they are making is that even though you see the gravity gun at Aperture, that doesn’t necessarily mean Aperture created it. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there was some shady goings on between BM and Aperture but i’m still convinced that BM was who developed and made the gravity gun, Aperture then stole it. used the technology and incorporated some of it into the portal gun. this would explain both the similarities in design between the two guns, and why the gravity gun seems to portray Black Mesa’s style more so than Aperture’s more sleek design style.

Also on the topic of the Borealis itself, I like the idea that it was built at the same facility that portal takes place in and then was used over the years for study, and was in use long enough to where the most recent logo would be on the containers it used. then i’m guessing it got lost in an event similar to in HL2 where it was a slow portal, took weeks/months/years for it to “reappear” (thus being considered to vanish) and came back in the location where Mossman found it

It wasn’t a portal device that failed at black mesa, it was a routine analysis of an anomolous ( alien ) rock that caused a dimensional rift in space.

However it’l be very similar to the one in the Lambda labs.

Also, since when is the gravity gun confirmed to of been created at Black Mesa?

Wasn’t it Judith who created the gravity gun? Couldn’t she of gotten tips of someone who worked at Appature after the alien invasion?

As for the borealis, the fact there is no dry dock missing underground means it either

A.) Disapeared from there, the dry dock missing was false information. However this would mean they built the thing down there. Very unlikely.

B.) That was were the Borealis was suppossed to end up AFTER teleportation, but never arrived. More likely.

First you necropost, then you double post? :brow:

Mossman made it out of designs she carried with her from Black Mesa (probably)

The “missing drydock” was what witnesses described, but it was probably actually a massive portal.
