Portal 2 at the gamescom

Damn, bolteh, appreciate the game for how much it entertains you on the first playthrough, not its replayability alone. Pretty much all games get boring on multiple play-throughs. Sure enemies might be in a slightly different location, but you still feel precognitive, as you’ll know exactly what the environment looks like and where to expect enemies. Just fucking enjoy it for what it is.

When has VALVe ever said that?

The first time they have released information about Portal 2.

Silly bolteh, VALVe has already said that they plan to have some minor randomization like L4D in the CO-OP. Since with Co-op your more likely to want to play it multiple times (that is if you have multiple friends, bolteh). I doubt it will be anything major. Total randomization in a puzzle game would have obvious flaws.

Also no I am not going to look the quote up too lazy. I think it was in Game Informers Portal 2 hub.

And yet you’re a Mac user. :stuck_out_tongue:

You’re blind if you think every map is the same. There are different techniques and skills required for every level up until the fire pit when GLaDOS tries to kill you, and then all of these are drawn upon up until the final fight with her.

Portal isn’t about replay value- that’s why it’s such a damn cheap game. It’s been given away for free by Valve, which isn’t something they do to more expensive retail games like Half-Life or Team Fortress 2.

This is more of an opinion. A strange one, but it’s your opinion. I really don’t think the gameplay is a bore. It’s pretty fun and exciting, and as I said earlier you’re required to learn more throughout the game and use previous skills in combination with these new things you’re learning at the same time. It requires thinking.

Portal 2 seems to be expanding on this marvelously.

It wasn’t “free” per say, but it wasn’t meant to turn into a franchise. ([mildsarcasm] Which it may turn into with bandwagon jumping console fags. [/mildsarcasm] :V )

We shall see. Prepare to be wrong.

I calll bullshit on this …

Theory (About the production of P2 and EP3):
The reason EP.3 hasn’t been released is because Portal has something to do with Half Life. Look, the original Half Life 2 that came out had something printed that said “Aperture”. This was a while before portal was even thought of. What if Portal takes place BEFORE all of the chaos that happens in Half Life? That would be great on the timeline!

Orange Box?

Same here. :frowning:

People actually liked the first voice actor? I thought he was horrible! AFAIK it was just some random staffer from Valve that they quickly ran through some lines with.

Stephen Merchant is a great choice, he was the co-writer and co-director of The Office and Extras for pete’s sake!

Ya but his voice suxzorz.

TBH I don’t really like either of them. IMO neither seem to suit the character or have very much expression. Since they seem to want a British/UK accent for Wheatley I would have gone with someone like Ewan MacGregor (but that’s just my opinion). And also, maybe it’s just the videos, but both voices seem to sound too…crisp, too human, as if it were a person speaking, and not a machine.

At ~11 minutes he says

Not quite randomization proof but I can’t think of many other ways to achieve this. (Hey my memory isn’t perfect but that’s pretty damn close if you ask me)

They were all in the same box. You didn’t have to buy them seperate. There was no such a rivalry.

If someone wants to read an interview with Erik Johnson, here it is:

https://www.hlportal.de/?site=articles&do=showarticle&article_id=130

6-8 hours.

Well, it’s still longer than Portal 1

SP: 4 hours
MP: 4 hours

And, there will be still much, much custom content and DLCs from Valve

Remake of Portal: Prelude, maybe?

Nah, I’m talking about a mod which will be developed, when Portal 2 is released. With the amount of Portal Prelude.

Moreover, the developers of Portal Combat are thinking about finishing, and adding the features into the mod, when Portal 2 is released.

sorry to go back to this but I think it’s a shame that they don’t plan on putting HL and portal together, I remember Gabe saying in an interview (which I can no longer find :frowning: ) that they planned on Chell being very closely connected to half-life characters somehow.

I think it’s better that they have no connections anymore. Many Portal fans don’t know the Half Life story, moreover, they never played a Half Life game.

What I mean is, it’s stupid to make things into a game, which you’ll understand if you played the another game.

There are people who like Portal but dislike Half Life. And there are people who like Half Life but dislike Portal.
