Portal 2 at the gamescom

Someone should make a mod where you are Weathley, and after the events of Portal you watch the facility slowly get rusty and stuff. With a cool storyline, of course :stuck_out_tongue:

Weathley chronicles: Tales of a speaking metal ball

sounds quite awesome.

If they aren’t directly connecting the Portal and Half-Life worlds together, how are they going to explain Aperture Science’s Borealis?

Also, I feel that Stephen Merchant is a fantastic choice for the character. His role in Extras was effing hilarious! He also did some rather funny voice-over work for adverts for Barclays here in the UK. For those that don’t like his voice, I’m sure there will be a willing actor somewhere to mod their own voice in eventually…

In Half Life 2 Episode 3, maybe? Where Alyx and Gordon fly ot the place where it is?

The Borealis was mentioned in the Half Life-Series NOT in the Portal-Series.

I think its going to be more that the Half-Life end shows connections while Portal doesn’t. Talking about the whole outside world and stuff takes away from the feeling of isolation.

I think that Portal 2 shouldn’t overtly refer to the Half-Life saga, but there should be more subtle references akin to the first Portal. Not having any connection whatsoever seems like a wasted opportunity to see the Half-Life universe from a different perspective.

maybe there will be some easter eggs.

Martin freeman would be a better wheatley.

If we’re talking opinions fair enough. If I were choosing a British voice actor I’d go for Steven Fry personally but that’s just because I love his voice and everything he does rather than whether he’d suit the character. Ewen McGregor though? Scottish Wheatley or Obi Wan Wheatley? :stuck_out_tongue:

Speaking of which, we don’t really KNOW anything about wheatley aside from the personality given to him by Lord and Merchant so how it can be said they don’t suit his character is beyond me.

It should have been David Mitchell, tbh.

Natural Scottish, Obi-Wan, Ed Bloom, Lincoln Six Echo…I’d take any, I just like his voice and the expression he puts into it.

As far as personality…I dunno, watching it again, I guess the voice is fine, but it just feels like something’s off. I think it’s that Wheatley’s facial(?) expressions don’t seem to match up quite right with the voice-over, like watching a video where the audio’s out of sync. Maybe the animations just haven’t been properly synced yet or something.

What do you mean by new voice actor? Was he in the original Portal?

I don’t know if this has been linked, it’s the co-op trailer.
This looks pretty cool, but you can be a butthead too :3

Seen it a second before, and it’s AWESOME. Good to know that the coop will be shown in beginning september

So you’re saying that because an early name for Aperture Science appeared in an early version of Half-Life 2, they must be connected? Also, we already know from somewhere that Portal roughly took place during the events of Half-Life 2, and it doesn’t make much of a difference. I don’t even get what you mean by “be great on the timeline.” Not to mention that it’s been said Portal and Half-Life were only connected because of simple things like reused art assets.

Why do I even bother? This is easily the stupidest thing I’ve ever read. It’s even worse than those idiots who think the entire contents of Portal will be imported into Episode 3 because Aperture owns the Borealis.

Edit2: Now, knowing Valve, it’s probably all in-game footage. Oh holy sh*t

Edit3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SD3EV2xzrYQ At 1:33 there’s something to the left. It’s big, and it’s moving. :o

No. But one of the Valve-Developers voice acted him as a placeholder, on the E3 gameplay videos. But now, Stephen Merchant is voice acting him.

Holy shit I just got back from a vacation and saw those vids and came. I can see this becoming a massive hit among pc gamers (of course) and ps3 gamers as well and maybe xbox gamers too. Perhaps Valve will finally catch the attention of console fags.

I see what you did there.

I think it’s a test chamber. Later in the video, if you look closely you can see the edges have robotic arms on them similar to the ones around the test chamber that’s bounced to.
