Hey, a friend told me that he played through Half Life 2 on Hard difficulty with only one health point. Now I wanna try, but I was wondering, how do I pull it off?
How do I avoid medkits?
Is it really possible to never be injured?
Can you do this in Episode 1 & 2 as well?
It’s not possible without cheating. There are places where the game FORCES you to collect a medkit, just as there are places where you HAVE to take damage. Withou Buddha mode, you’d either go above 1HP, or you’d die.
My bro used to always do stuff like that with a lot of games way back. He would do 1 of 2 things, play through the game without dying, or make sure he never looses 1 point of health and save often.
I remember watching him playing RTCW to almost the end when I was younger thinking how the fuck has he made it this far.
He sucks now though, and all he does is make levels for Heretic.
You could try doing it in Half Life 1. Oh but there is that one time where the pipe breaks and you have to land on the table with medkits on it. Sorry.
I heard of someone on these forums who claims to have done it. I don’t remember who it is but they will pop up here soon enough, I’m sure. Or you can do a search.
I wonder if it will be possible to do this in Black Mesa? That would be cool, though I certainly don’t want anything further delaying the release… been looking forward to it for a while.
You absolutely want to play HL1 with 1 hp or you just want to try a “hardcore-no-error-permitted” mode? Because, in the latest case, that could be convenient.
And yes, I was the one. I did beat HL1, BS, OP4, HL2, EP1 and EP2 on Hard difficulty, with 1hp and with no cheats.
Through all theese games, the only scenario where I was forced to pick up medkits was in HL2, when I first entered the sand buggy, and the resistance girl menaged to drop me down right next to the antlions. Did post pics about the endings somewhere…
Edit: In that What the hell is wrong with me? thread (157th post), I found two of my screenshots, about the 1hp endings of BS, and OP4 respectively. Might upload more pics, if you want, and if I find them.
Actually, I think we’ve changed that section so it doesn’t force you to get hurt. Things like that kind of irritated me in the first game.
But if you’re just doing it for fun and not speedrunning or anything, I would say if the game forces you to get a medkit, just enter “hurtme X” in the console, or put together some kind of mod that disables them.
