Pickup and Throw Combat?

I guess Im just not as smart as you…dick. It was only a question, relax. No need to get all :hmph: :brow:

The BM zombies are just reskins of HL2’s. The HL2 AI is programmed to bash away any object lying directly in front of it and the player.

Thank you Sir.

Now that’s a polite way to put it.

I hope there’s pies you can throw at people’s faces.

Maybe you haven’t noticed, but this mod is built on Source, not HL1.

Seconded.

I never knew how well I could do just using the Gravity Gun until I did the Ravenholm and One Free Bullet achievements. However, it sure was nice to get back to regular shoot-em-up game play. Actually, I played them both on EASY to get through them. The cinder blocks worked on zombies and headcrabs but not on zombine.

Yea, but this is a REMAKE OF HL1, think about that for one minute and why i asked the question to begin with…

I even said I hope its included, why do people like you get on everyone’s case? There are nicer ways to comment, stop being a forum tough guy a get a life.

Burbinator is very tough, I have you know.

Except you said something about programming the feature, while it’s already programmed as part of Source.

You might as well have asked if physics were going to be in.

Our awesome wiki says its in, so that’s good.

I only asked because I assumed that the zombies’ ability to 1) knock objects at high velocities and 2) have them aimed at you, is programmed into the zombie AI which is customizable, not an inherent feature of the physics system. I know it is commonly used as a way to prevent the zombies from bumping into shit all the time, but I believed if the devs wanted to they could remove that ability to stay true to the zombie attacks from HL. I suppose that is why I asked.

Even though it should have been pretty obvious that the devs wouldn’t change that, since the zombies did that in HL2

Not really, since the zombies did not do that in HL1 and this is a remake of HL1, not HL2. I feel like we are going in circles. Regardless, it was only a question and this isn’t the most active thread, so get the fuck over it.

FFS, a complete REMAKE of HL1 would look absolutely no different from the original game. This is a remake of HL1 ASSUMING that Valve had all the technology it does now. That kind of implies that features they’ve put in the HL2 games will be in BMS, since that’s how far they’ve evolved the current idea.

I agree 100% with your post. Im not trying to argue with anyone, I only asked a question.

What prompted my question is the fact that the devs are customizing the behavior of the HL2 zombies, including animations, sound effects, and AI. Since I assumed object tossing is apart of the AI, I wondered if it was still included. I wondered if it would be included because its technically a new attack for the HL1 zombie, so IMO its a big change.

I was interested in asking because of my personal zombie preference. I always felt that the HL2 zombies were too human and too smart. Its like they were trying to kill you, not eat you. I feel that the HL1 zombies were more trance-like and “hungry.” They tended sneak up on you quick and I imagine them pushing and plowing their way through objects to get their hands on you. Perhaps all of this is due to the lack of tech in 99, but I always found the HL1 zombies more ideal.

Also, keep in mind that a lot of zombie combat in HL2 was outside compared to the mostly closed quarters of the BM facility. Slightly different AI for slightly different games. Now, lets all agree on how sweet it will be to throw shit at the HECU.

Object tossing is in but has been re-vised so more than one type of AI can use it.

Just Xenian flavors of NPCs?

Also, I think it’s been asked before but can you sneak up on NPCs or will they be completely aware of your every move no matter what?

Surely HECU will be able to knock things away lightly to stop them getting jammed in critical areas.

I can see it now, throw a chair at a bunch of HECU and they all get stuck.

Scientist: I found that if you throw a chair in their path, they can’t do a thing to harm you!
