LOL? FYI, before stacks, there were docklings.
Docklings were for the original OS X, “Cheetah”, yes? That came out in 2001? Fail. Windows had toolbar fans since 98SE in 1999. And even before then, in Windows 95, you could fan folders out from the Start menu.
You’d think so, but you’d be wrong. Docklings as they were were pretty much from mac os 8, only different names.
And in windows 95, the only thing you had in taskbar was quick launch for apps. It was first introduced in windows 98 or even ME. (Inb4some1installingWin95)
And while taskbar pinned quick launch folder is merely a simple list you can “fan out” (same as in start menu), current stacks have different mechanics and go beyond that.
However there was clearly a miscommunication between us. Aside from different interpretations of “fan out”, I mixed things up and talked about different things. What I meant by what was introduced in W7 for taskbar to mimic dock, was those:
