Operation Black Mesa (Opposing Force: Source)

I’m working as a concept artist/mattepainter in the game and movie industry, and even though I’ve worked on a number of aaa titles and hollywood productions I can honestly say that playing Black Mesa had me more impressed and excited than I’ve been in years. The level design and the overall atmosphere is just fucking incredible. I’ve actually been kinda depressed since I finished it though (took it real slow, dragged it out as long as I could), knowing that this was probably the last time I got to revisit that mysterious place, so finding this forum and this thread just made my day. If you guys can live up to the ridiculously high standard set by the BMS guys… I can’t even imagine… please make it so

So when is the release? 2013 I guess?

No, will be in Q4 1999.

We have no official release date and I honestly couldn’t guess. So who knows?

Hey! the BM proyect begin in 2004, but i dont know when the proyect of OBM started,

The 29th of September was 5 years since OBM started.

I heard it sux!

Yeah me too. They’re all a bunch of immature, incompetent developers, especially that Keresh fellow.

Looking forward to these mods.

Spot on.
I’m one of those cases…

The BMS release did a lot of great things.

21 of December the world ends so who cares about the release date…

I thought this particular project was dead.

Unless it’s specifically stated by those involved to be dead, I think it’s dumb to just assume a project is dead simply because no one has told you it’s alive.

Exactly.

Just think about the sheer number of people who insisted that Black Mesa was dead.

I thought Operation Black Mesa was dead because it hasn’t been updated in years. Maybe I missed an update since it has been several months since I last checked their mobdb. i assumed it was dead since the only info on it was one track from their soundtrack.

They’ve got a forum. Maybe the devs post regular updates, much like another mod I followed. Everyone thought it was dead because they didn’t update anything, and only gave significant/extensive info through their forum. Forget the name, though.

Not dead. Stay tuned.

a news update on your moddb pages would be cool…

by the way,I appreciate your facebook page.

I’m anxiously awaiting updates on this project, as well as Guard Duty. You gotta give us something soon, ok!?

What people don’t seem to realize is that, these things… they take time. You can easily go months of working and not have anything notable to show for it. Time flies, and people get tired of the “we’re not dead” updates, because people complain that they have to prove it when they can’t because they’ve been working on smaller stuff that’s either not notable or no one cares about.

Also, they’d probably rather work then put together an update.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
