Operation Black Mesa (Opposing Force: Source)

That would be awesome

^ yeah, that would be frigging awesome, but the devs already stated that they weren’t collaborating with Tripmine Studios (guys working on Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty) :\

From the Tripmine Studios - General Faq:

With Black Mesa released, will you use their content? Will you also make games consistent in terms of level design?

No, we won’t be using Black Mesa’s content. There are several reasons for it.

At first, we would have to scrap A LOT OF amount of our hard work.
The second reason is that working on projects of this scale is great opportunity to build great portfolio and that’s the main reason, why most of us contribute to the projects.

[COLOR=‘PaleGreen’]We also believe that we will be able to set the bar higher than Black mesa in the final release. And to close this case, using their content would be steal…

mmhh…

For what it is worth, I am really digging all of the stuff I am seeing from both OBM and GD. I hope they press on and push out a pristine product. They obviously seem to be well on their way. =)

Yeah, those guys are skilled as well, I sense competition :jizz:

come at me bro!~

Naw but serious, I wish them nothing but really great things for their team. I am really hoping they are bringing the challenge to the table and that they amaze us all!

We are coming at you. You guys set the bar quite high but I am pretty sure we can reach it(not even gonna touch the surpassing thing as I don’t feel like dying today).

You Have chosen your words carefully, Messenger.

Well there’s a bad move right there, load times are already pretty lengthy in Black Mesa, I think lowering the detail on things that most people wouldn’t notice would benefit their mod greatly.

I don’t think it would help, I can run Portal 2 maxed out and the load-times are shorter than in BlackMesa “_”

I’d say that’s because BM’s maps are far bigger and more detailed than any of Portal 2’s maps…

Yeah, Valve, when creating a game, has to cater for computers of all shapes and performances, they have to ensure not too much and not too little detail go into level design.

I’m not saying the third-party modders don’t always do this, but from what I’ve seen, they tend to release much more intricate stuff because everyone’s comps have become better between mod announcement and release date.

I think that BM has motivated even more the guys of OBM.

Watch these somehow blow black mesa out of the fucking water

That isn’t too far from the truth. After Black Mesa released we had a HUGE influx of applications as well as a number of developers who used to be on the team come back to join. So we owe black mesa a great deal.

I hope the motivation keeps up. I for one would really love to see all of our beloved oldies treated with the love and respect they deserve. Injecting them with new life is not an easy task, but the satisfaction of a great product at the finish line is WELL WORTH it.

Great words.

Sweet! But does that mean it’ll be released valve time, because if it is…

…I can wait.

Thats Pretty Good

We aren’t alwayse talking about leveldesign or fancy particles. We will try to set some other bars higher as well.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
