NVIDIA's G-Sync Attempts To Revolutionize Gaming

new tech is always in montreal wtf

new tech and dumb idiots!!!

What? When? Where? Who? Why?

The give tech companies and a lot of companies big tax breaks so its really appealing to open offices there.

I am more looking forward to Mantle(benchmarks coming this month)then this.

Why not both?

I want a future where both mantle and gsync can be used by anyone no matter their choice of video card brand.

Has anyone actually seen this thing in person? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on this tech.

Well, according to the accounts of people who’ve seen it in person it’s pretty amazing. It kills two birds with one stone and looks pretty damn smooth and sharp.

Basically imagine that you can play any game with a framerate over 30 super smooth and lag free with absolutely no screen tear and judder because of framerate fluctuation. Graphics stay smooth and sharp at all times no matter how unorthodox and variable your framerate is.

that’s exactly what was missing from computers for me

Sweet. The only downfall being the inevitable age of overly-expensive monitors for everyone.

No one’s gonna stop making cheap monitors. It would be ridiculous to exclude a huge part of your market in favor of making just expensive items. Also, in theory FreeSync shouldn’t cost you anything extra. However the fact that no one has worked on it yet seems to indicate that they didn’t know what to do with such a technology, and now that G-Sync is around, they may take a cue from Nvidia and figure out a way to charge for it. In any case, at least there’s a competing technology in the works, so all around prices ought to fall after a while.

I called it on page 1.

the age of proprietary software is slowly coming to an end

give it another 20-30 years and proprietary hardware will be out of phase thanks to cheap and advanced 3D printing
maybe

Wouldnt that be cool, if you could actually design and create your own hardware, easily? When we get to that point, we’ll be truly open source.

AMD has their own version of G Sync now, but by software, not hardware!

It still depends on whether or not the monitor supports it.

Well I read just quickly about it, it was in the laptops or something

My i7 laptop has a Radeon “HD 6500 series” directly connected to PCI-e interface and the LVDS interface without going through the CPU like a normal laptop(I can’t see any intel onboard card in device manager or BIOS) so I’ll be testing AMD’s software on my laptop as soon as I find a download link.
