also going back to the thread it could be another possibillity:

Nihilianth could be the administrator of the planets the vorts and the controllers lived before going into Xen like how Breen was looking at their teleporting habilities they conquered Xen and controlled not only the vortigaunt minds, also the headcrab, houndeye, the ichthyosaur and bullsquid minds wich were originally from Xen after looking the possibility to conquer the earth, the combine allowed them to be the first invasion wave, after the nihilianth death the monsters originally from Xen recovered their mind control like the vorts stopp’d to be slaves, then they joined the humans and killed the alien grunts and controllers wich where on earth and the H.E.C.U. (Hazardous Environment Combat Unit) teleported to Xen and killed the rest of controllers and alien grunts, then the combine came and when they saw they lost the control of Xen they followed the grunts though a portal and teleported to earth. Then 7 hour war, etc.

Also the HECU only killed controllers and Agrunts because in hl2 beta there were going to appear houndeyes and bullsquids wich didn’t really served nihilianth if it wasn’t because it’s mind control.

Yeah but bullsquids lived together in Xen with Headcrabs. But when they’re on earth together, they tend to attack each other

yeah that’s because bullsquids are very territorial in places wich they are discovering and they think everything is hostile, but in Xen in blue shift it doesn’t attack headcrabs or other bullsquids (also known in the console and the hl beta as: bullchicken :stuck_out_tongue: )

Vortikind obviusly means vortigaunts if they were reffearing to xennians they would said xeniankind or xenikind or something like that.

Also I’ve been thinking… Nihilianth can do telepathic messages to the player do you think the controllers could do it also?

Perhaps the Combine already conquered the Xen species and the real combine (who we never really see) just used them to conquer earth so they didn’t have to do it themselves, when Gordon kills the Nihilith he frees the Vorts who the Combine don’t get control over again

The combine enslaved The Nihilanth, but did not take his free will. Thus he escaped with his under-slaves and went to Xen to flood his aliens to earth. The combine got pissed and followed him. The combine found earth and attacked. /Thread

I think vortikind is more thann just vortigaunts. Maybe agrunts and controllers are vortikind? you know… with the third arm…
