Nihilanth's race

But Nihilanth is a slave right? so… the vortigaunts are slaves of a slave? So the combine used Nihilanth to control all vorts, controllers and agrunts? And if they lose Nihilanth… They would lose control to all the vorts, agrunts and controllers? :aah::rage:

AWESOME! Nihilanth is going to eat my dust! So what type of race is this? 100 Meter Dash? Long Distance? Mario Kart? Eating Contest? That last one I might not do to well on, unless the amount we eat is figured in body weight percentage.

/deliberately reading only thread title.

I lol’d

I always assumed that the nihilanth was part of the combine. I thought maybe there was once more of his species but they died out because at the end of the game he says he is the last. So maybe the nihilanths were part of the combine and now he is the last one left and he has control over xenians. Which just means he was one of the important guys in the combine.

So… It’s decided then… that in HL1… Gordon Freeman :freeman: was already fighting Combine.

If anyone is against this post a reply now to continue discussion. If no one is against this then i shall close this thread.

WAIT A SEC!!!

If Nihilanth and his race are combine… THEN WHY WERE THEY ESCAPING THE COMBINE???
Or maybe… when gordon was fighting the Nihilanth and his race… they were just slaved recently… i dunno…

I think if the Nihilanth etc. were slaves to the Combine, at some point in the past they managed to rebel and escape to Xen where the Combine couldn’t get at them. When Gordon killed the Nihilanth, the mind tricks it used to stop the Combine getting to Xen were no more, and the Combine could bust through there and get to Earth.

Also, the Controllers and Agrunts are intrinsically connected to the Nihilanth, unlike the Vorts who had a certain degree of freewill (as evidenced by the ones who don’t attack you in Xen), and so once the Nihilanth died the Controllers and Agrunts couldn’t function and died off pretty quickly, while the Vorts were freed.

What really needs to be done is VALVE needs to make a site themselves containing the REAL storyline of their most precious product, Half-life

But that would take away the fun.

Fun? What fun? Fun of knowing what really happened? Of course but I don’t want anymore misleads. :meh:

Nice quote :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyways dude, this has pretty much been answered and it seems to be correct from what we know.

Someone once told me (because Valve games never have storyline and there always generic FPS) that “Valve is pretty mediocre and their games are still good, but nothing special”

Pffffft Valve is the shit money. This thread, case and point. The fans rule and Valve respects that. Long live Valve!

I always thought that the agrunts, controllers, as well as the Nihilanth itself were all synths created using the vortigaunts as a starting point, being that they all share that third middle arm thingy.

The Nihilanth was a synth created to control the other synths: the agrunts, and the controllers, which is why those two enemies didn’t have wrist bands to control them, whereas the vortigaunts did have them, since they weren’t directly linked to the Nihilanth.

So in short, Nihilanth created to control the agrunts and controllers, as well as the vortigaunts, but only through the wristbands, since they aren’t synth.

Quite possible, considering that on Earth, the Combine created stalkers as well as Overwatch. I wonder if they ever intended to do something with Dr. Breen, or if they did do something to him D:

In the last chapter of HL2, I remember something like Breen agreeing to transfer himself into a body of an adviser in order to survive in the place he was supposed to teleport but :freeman: stopped his teleportation and started an explosion on the top of the citadel, destroying it. Some guessed that Breen was successful in transferring his himself into a body of an adviser and escaped in one of the pods that you see in the end of Ep.1. :meh:

We were never told that the nihilanth rebeled or that it wasnt part of the combine. Maybe it was the spearhead of the combines invasion of earth and was in charge of the xenians(Xen was possibly under combine control) and even though he died it still gave the more powerful combine army to break through and take control of earth. Also i believe that the xenian creatures have a 3rd arm in there chest(Vorts, controllers,Nihilanth) because they are all of the same type of species but are cousins of the others. Much like the different species of humans that were once here and much like all species that are cousin species. Agrunts have those characteristiscs because they are modified vortigaunts made for war.

The fun of discussing it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heh, so much for teleportation. The combine don’t have that. Only xen carried that ability. I would like to see the agrunts and controllers again. Especially Gargantou.(The red eye beast) Like see them come back into the story of Half-life 3 maybe. That would be interesting
