Thoughts?

I hope it’s not full of gimmicks and useless shit. MS needs to focus more on games and less on TV and Kinect bullshit.

They really need to invest more on 2nd party companies like Sony has.

If the “augmented reality” claim on that cover is accurate, it’ll probably be at least a little gimmicky.

Unless Microsoft actually invests in games that aren’t load of bullshit aimed at kids.

Finally. The current generation has been going on for long enough…

In less than two years some newfag will complain about how the current gen of PC graphics chips is WAAAAAAAAY better

But they are :3

I’d rant here about how consoles and PCs have completely different architecture and can’t be fairly compared like that because of how different they are, but I’m probably wrong on that point.

yeah they’re really different, thats why Sony disabled Linux booting on the PS3

^lol

Why would they name their third console after their first? Regardless, assuming this is legit, it actually looks nice. “New innovative gamepad” and “directional audio” are the only things that really catch my attention, though. I wonder what “new” controller they’ve got in mind. Sony’s stayed more or less the same, and Nintendo’s been all-the-fuck-over.

Microsoft’s new controller has adds on the buttons. “Hit the McDonalds button to jump”.

Oh yeah, pulling on the burger king trigger

I hope they don’t change it to much, I really like the current one. The one for the first generation(Xbox) was good, it was then improved for the second generation(Xbox360) by removing the White & the black button and replacing them with additional triggers.

I wonder if they’ll just add more buttons or a complete redesign. From a logical point of view, I would guess it’ll be a redesign since adding more buttons would clutter it and probably mess up the ergonomics.

so long as it’s backwards compatible and has options to transfer data or even just shove a hard disk in I don’t see how anyone wouldn’t want this. Probably gonna last 20 years

I had to laugh

But really, as long as it sports a blu ray drive and tougher hardware, it’s all I need.

Augmented reality with kinect sounds like it could be fucking incredible though. As much as I hate to admit it, I enjoy the hell out of it.

Geez, I wish people would stop saying “Xbox 720.” I can’t be the only one that finds the name retarded.

I’m pretty much always years behind hardware, so when the console’s released I’ll probably get it half way through it’s life-span, assuming I even bother with it. Wonder if it’ll have any decent exclusives.

The current one is 7 years old, but look at Gears 3 and Halo 4. Face it, it doesn’t fucking need to be ahead of PCs to accomodate a good looking title. Also, I refuse to properly adress the console by any name until it has one.

Anyway, it seems Frostbite 2 is EA’s go to engine now. Not mad. I mean, Fuck EA, but that’s pretty awesome. Even those anemic tiny thumbnails of Dragon Age 3 looked pretty fucking amazing. It’s so nice to see that Frostbite framework being used for something other than a grey military shooter.
Edit: among further research, those shots were concept art. Still though.

I wanna see Reach’s level of texture/sprite detail and H4LO’s fancy effects in glorious, un-scaled 1080p for Halo 5

shit, I wanna see any game like that.

If the next gen consoles really will have 4gb of ram, we’ll see some impressive texture resolution and detail.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t. Even the school-supplied netbook I’m using right now has 4gb of DDR3 memory.
