I take it this is an anti-abortion bill, so that maniacs are allowed to murder abortion doctors.
I also think this should be in the debating hall.
Well that is one of the things that can happen with this bill theegoatpig, but it is so broad that even miscarriages and possibly inadvertent transfer of diseases could be construed as human intervention in a pregnancy, punishable by death by anyone.
I can’t wait to see a csi episode where someone sets up a legal murder by making someone do something minimal to a pregnant woman in her first few weeks.
It is still a PROPOSED bill. It hasn’t been passed yet. you won’t be seeing any CSI episodes on it until it is signed into law.
However, with some simple rewriting I could get behind a bill that allows for ex-pregnant women to escape prosecution. It would need to state that intentional harm terminated the pregnancy against the wishes of the mother, and a couple of other little caveats like that.
Seems fairly stupid. And it probably won’t pass, and if it does, it’ll be repealed.
^aren’t cases like already protected by self-defence laws?
Thats why this is problematic. Its clearly trying to accomplish something more than just self-defense.
a fetus isnt a person sooo i dont think you can really commit homicide against it since homicide is generally committed against people
Unless its killed by another fetus.
You don’t even get a soul till you’re like, one
thats still not homicide, thats just awesome

Did you guys read the bill at all?
Here on the internet, we prefer to judge first, and ask questions only if forced.

Why are “Or she” and “Or her” constantly underlined?
i am still s o u n c o m f o r t a b l e with this because it implies that by killing someone who endangers a pregnancy youre saving something thats alive
killing someone to protect a fetus is like
killing someone to protect a fucking tapeworm
also im assuming she is underlined because a woman is more likely to kill to defend a parasite than a man
plus how the fuck do you even define danger to a fetus
smoking around a pregnant woman is a danger to the fetus what the fuck is this a fetus is not a fucking person you cannot kill to protect a parasite UGH
I think it’s stupid. It’s already illegal to try and (somehow, maybe via Falcon Punch?) force somebody to abort their baby, and if somebody tried to murder your unborn child, nobody would blame you/somebody else for killing that person.
But if you’re willingly getting an abortion, what gives anybody the right to kill the doctor performing it?
Abortion is a tricky subject. There is a big difference between an embryo a few weeks into pregnancy, and an actual unborn baby several months into it.
I personally find the whole concept of abortion kind of… sad, really, but other people’s pregnancies are none of my business.
I predict woman assassins who get pregnant to do contract killings in Nebraska under the protective blanket of state law.
the key similarity between an embryo and an unborn fetus (dont call it a baby, its not) is neither of them are alive. if you cant live on your own and youre feeding off MY body, i have every right to remove you.
and doesnt this put the women who have abortions in danger as well? as if women werent already shamed enough for choosing what they do with their own bodies
I don’t see how you can say that a baby at 8 months in is not a baby and alive, but whatever. I really don’t want to argue about this topic of all.
