I bought an NES with Super Mario Bros. yesterday and was wondering if anyone could suggest some other good games?
I already have my own list working (SMB 3 and Zelda to name a couple), but any suggestions are appreciated.

Megaman
metroid. That’s about it.
Get a ps1 or an n64 if you’re looking for goodness.
Video games didn’t even get fun until like last year
lol. C’mon Now. I can remember havin’ fun with Paperboy and N.A.R.C. (i think that’s what it was)… and a few others.
HAHA YOU SO FUNNY
Ninja Gaiden, Battletoads, Silver Surfer.
Zelda’s that are available to NES.
Oh, i see what you did there.
Really it depends on what kinds of games you already play and enjoy. Any of the Castlevania games are good to start with. if you’ve already played them and want something along the same vein as Castlevania, Metroid and Zelda2, try Faxanadu. it’s one of the most underrated gems of the NES.
One of the many staples of NES era games is their unrelenting difficulty. Some games take a little persistence and practice to really enjoy. Some games like Ninja Gaiden take some patience, some pain and a few cheap deaths before they really pay off. Keep that in mind when trying out recommendations. …but seriously, FUCK Silver Surfer. You’d probably find gargling with Drain-O more entertaining.

Mike Tysons Punch Out, River City Ransom, Blaster Master, Batman, Rampage, Kid Icarus, Rygar, Ghosts and Goblins (or Ghouls, I can’t remember), Megaman 1, and 3, Wizards and Warriors, Zelda, Metroid, Mario 1, 2, & 3 … all GREAT games.
the castlevania games and final fantasy.
also watch the Angry Video Game Nerd for games to stay away from
Meh, Rampage? Man that game got tedious quickly.
Nobody said Crystalis? I am disappointed.
Think Zelda style, but with more RPG elements. Many kinds of armor, the four elemental swords with powerups, accessories with varying effects, magic, and items to support all of this. Also, leveling up. The game is a bit cheap about it, in that if you’re too low level for a boss, you do absolutely no damage to them, but the max level is 16, so it’s not too bad to grind for 10-20 minutes if you can’t hurt the boss.
Harvest moon.
Thanks guys! I’ll be checking out all of these suggestions. I’m up for pretty much any type of game as long as it’s fun.
haha… yes, I was! That guy is hilarious. Also, I might have bought Ghostbusters if I wasn’t reminded how awful a game it was.
…then again, I still may buy it out of nostalgia…
Well yeah, it probably would be now-a-days, but when I was 6 or 7 is was top notch entertainment for hours at a time, lol.
I always liked Duck tales on NES. Music is bitty goodness.
Crysis.
…No one else?
did mario kart come out on the nes? or was it only for snes?
I think only SNES.
