Need for Speed: Shift

So I bought Shift today.

Mainly because I just got a job so I though I’d celebrate a bit and buy something that I deemed worthy.

Anyway, some people say the demo doesn’t deliver, but since I dont play demo’s, and haven’t since like, 2005, it didn’t really phase me.

But having played it, I love it, the new art style, is great, the menu looked awesome, plus with the graphics set nice and high (I thought I wouldn’t be running it high but it seems I can, must be very well optimized), the physics are good, so long as you turn off all the driving aids (like real men do).

Playing it at hard difficulty and it’s nice to have a racing game that rewards you for smashing the other cars off the raod.

I’ll post a few screenies later in the SS thread and link from here.

You kids and your new technology…

So I guess I suck for still playing Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit? I really like it… And it doesn’t make my laptop BSOD… :frowning:

I’ve been playing it over the last week and while it does start of slow, give it some time and you start enjoying it. I hated the handling of pretty much every car. Take a turn at anything over 50km/h and you start sliding, even AWD’s. But then I played around with the tuning and you have to increase the rear downforce slightly. After this you get a lot of understeer but at least you’re not drifting all over the place.

It’s good to have advanced tuning again, a feature not seen since Hot Pursuit.

Atm, my RS4 is just tits.

I’m pretty sure Pro Street had tuning in it.

Difference is, it didn’t help because the physics in ProStreet were beyond repair. I’m having a blast with it, all aids off it drives pretty nice, although you really have to spend time tuning it if your on a gamepad. The cars all handle noticeably different, it’s nice, but they all seem to have crazy amounts of oversteer when braking. Also, although it looks fucking sweet with the bloom and blur in the cockpit gets on my nerves, and unless your using a single colour car, the liveries aren’t that decent a resolution, and I have max filtering. :expressionless:
.

I think it’s just too realistic, I can play it on high too BTW.

Its not realistic, it tries to be realistic but fails badly.

Also the walls are like fucking magnets, as soon as you’re on the grass, there is 98% chance you will hit the wall.

I love the in-car view, I always use it if a game has it.

Also, pics.

No AA? Give it at least 4x AA

AA boy, AA! I’m sure your graphics card can handle it.

Anti-aliasing would make up for that shit blur effect on the wheels.

Looks fun but it seems that a new NFS game comes out like every 5 months now. I’m getting worn out on having to choose them. :mono:

You bitches happy now?

Also, LP640 = tits.

Awesome car, can’t wait till I can finally buy the Reventón.

it sux! Need for Speed : Hot pursuit 2 FTW! (and maybe the 2nd Underground…)
If you want to play a nice simulator go play Richard Burns Rally (R.I.P. Richard burns :frowning: )

Quote what you just said, and my response is your avatar.

Followed by a slap on the face.

Have you not worked out that they’re released yearly? :brow: Plenty enough time to decide if it’s good enough, and complete the game.
.

  1. It doesn’t suck, it’s very good, just not a simulator. Best NFS game in a long while.

2.Comparing it to a rally sim is so retarded…if you’r comparing it to a simulation game, take a SimBin game like GTR2/GTRevolution, or rFactor, even iRacing. Those are sims, just to name a few.

EDIT: fuck, double post, how did that happen. My bad.
.

It’s not that I hate them coming out it’s just the money problem. I would buy them because they are all so much fun, it’s just I’m kinda in a “economic” rut right now.
No job = no money :frowning:
