Well that could actually be fun.
Never played it.
The Human race will eventually have to colonize Mars in order to sustain its own survival. Do you know nothing?
Yeah, we’re going to need to live on another planet when we eventually kill the one we’re already on. Better be before 2012.
The planet won’t die until the sun swallows us up, or an asteroid hits it shattering it to pieces. We might die off, but not the planet.
That’s more likely than you think.
How do you know what I think?
Regardless of all else, the sun swallowing the Earth is a dead cert, just not for a long time. Basically, through accident or the lifecycle of our own sun, there is no prospect for long-term survival of the human race on only one planet. (Of course, take the timeline far forward enough and we have the even bigger issue of the inevitability of entropy increasing and the eventual running out of new suns and solar systems to colonise, but we’ve got even more billions of years to worry about that one.)
The other point is that the resources and technological advances made to enable, or discovered as a result of, space exploration and colonisation will benefit our descendants.
Another point is that, by the time the sun swallows the Earth, there would be no humans as we would’ve evolved beyond the Homo sapiens sapiens common ancestor into…something else.
Dark overlords of the universe, perhaps.
that’d be awesome!
This guy is waiting for us to catch up.
I was thinking more along the lines of…
As for colonising another planet, as said before, we’ll have to otherwise Earth will become overpopulated and will not be able to support us anymore.
AS for the topic, the water was detected on two previous missions, but the Indian sattelite confirmed it as far as I know.
ITT watch Soylent Green.
Not if we don’t manage to even colonise our nearest planetary bodies we won’t. Hence my point in favour of moon and Mars bases. We have our Dark Overlord destiny to rise to, after all.
I don’t think we will transform into something so powerful or magnificent. Evolution comes out of necessity. Since technology gives all that we need, I don’t think a radical change is incoming, or at least not a very flattering one (see WALL-E).
Have you not considered the possibility that humans will take control of their own evolution?
Are there not enough movies/games about it that that is not one of the first things that comes into ones mind when they think about genetics?
did you already consider genetic manipulation?
Every human that you meet has 100 strands of mutated DNA from the last generation. It’s not much when compared to the billions of strands of DNA that we all have, but after a few million years it will add up. Assuming we don’t kill ourselves off in that time
If everyone finally realized religion is a kids bedtime story then maybe we’d have peace and we would be able to explore the universe!
I’ll be the first human on Mars with internet! Talk about high ping… :fffuuu:
actually that would be pretty awesome IMO
even though jumping on a trampoline could cause you to leave the planet’s atmosphere :aah:
