You obviously don’t know how intel’s cards work, they use the CPU for most of the rendering.
I bet your PC didn’t have a 2.5ghz core 2 duo and couldn’t do the work fast enough.
I used to have a “dual core pentium” CPU with the same card OP has and I was able to play CS:S on huge servers that lag on my laptop and there wasn’t a hint of lag.
The CPU was an Intel dual-core at 2.20GHz and it all failed miserably at doing anything except browsing.
