Hopefully it will be on the PC too.
Oh God I hope thats true.
Hopefully they have the squad functionality that made 2142 so good in the first place in too, and realize that it was the features and gameplay, and not the setting - that made the game.
The setting helped though.
If they do this, then all I want is exact replica of 2142 with better graphics and frostbite 2
And more guns that don’t look like they borrowed the design specs for nerf guns.
Seriously, does anyone remember the high powered sniper you unlock in 2142?
That’s not really fair, as nerf guns are intentionally designed to look generic sci fi… which was also the point of 2142…
I would like a significant overhaul to the visual style though. 2142 looked cool for the time, but it was also the kind of sci fi look that’s everywhere. It sounds uncharacteristic, but I’d like to see a much sleeker execution of the same ideas. Rounder guns with less visual breaks in components (not outside of reason of course), simpler shapes in the armor overall, all that stuff.
less of this:
More of this:
I just feel the latter would be a lot more pleasant to look at in FB2. Especially with the improved specular.
Well without the limits of relatively polygon counts, I think as a rule video game Sci-fi is going to move entirely towards smoother shapes.
I wish, but it seems to be the same old blocky stuff but this time everything is beveled and has groves cut into it…And hexagons…
Fuckloads of hexagons…
Oh god the hexagons…
Curves are certainly a lot more popular than they were, so here’s hoping.
Russians in 2142 were sorta curvy.
vs
I’m more of a fan of the impractical insectoid sci fi look that no BF game set in the future would have. hehehe.
Not like transformers, but those kinds of extreme curves. More Kow Yokoyama type stuff.
Ah well… I’m more concerned with whether or not any 2143 would even have a decent number of maps or post release support. I kinda wish they’d treat it like a full spinoff series… not like Vietnam, but like Bad company. I want to see a full campaign set in the 2142 universe. I liked Bad company 1 and 2’s campaigns. I know Dice can do it right. No idea what the fuck happened with BF3. I know it won’t happen, but still.
Honestly I’d just want to see the return of Instant action. I loved how in BF2 or 2142 i could dick around with bots with some friends too, not having to worry about being the best in the server.
yeah. I’m sure Dice is feeling the heat on that one.
I don’t get wheat everyone is complaining about the campaign for other than the fact that it was too short. Also, I think that a BF2143 Campaign would go really far, as long as they add a few innovative features, like co-op campaign, and stuff. I’d also be very awesome to see some off planet action like space combat and other planets (that new kepler planet discovery seems to be a good place to start) re-imagined in FB2, I mean it’s one year after 2142 so a few things will change and those seem like some logical places that would change. I’m not talking about adding aliens or anything like that, I just that it would kind of be mandatory in a campaign if it’s based in the sci-fi future.
What everyone seems to not realize is that calling it 2143 doesn’t mean it takes place in 2143. It just means it’s a sequel to 2142.
Am I the only one that remembers that at least 60% of the battles in Battlefield 1942 didn’t take place in 1942? It’s just a catchy name.
I don’t understand your point. The idea is its a vague time at which the game occurs, I don’t think anyone would disagree with that.
You kidding me?
Battlefield 3’s campaign was hardly a campaign at all! It was a fucking tube!
A very pretty tube, but a tube none the less.
It was very scripted but how exactly would you have done the campaign? This is a serious question by the way.
More like the Bad company games. They were tubes but really wide tubes that connected the occasional arena. There was even a level in BC2 that was pretty much 100% open. I mean they made more sense in the bad company story because you play as a unit that operates separately from the regular military, but idk. BF3 could have kept it’s scriptedness till the nuke starts to come into play, then it could have opened up.
