MW3 vs BF3

Quake III engine, you have been good to us. Then bad to us. Now you just need to go away.

Tell that to the people who complain whenever a game isn’t at least 720p, saying it isn’t HD. In reality, anything higher than 640x480 is HD.

That said, I agree with Maxey. More resolution = better. I wouldn’t go to the extremes that he would, but still :stuck_out_tongue:

anything under 720p is not hd

480p is digital broadcasting made by our beloved cabledistributors…or benefactors

Yeah, 720p is HD.

So if 480p/i is standard def, anything higher isn’t high def? Okay.

wha-BAM!

Just looked it up and you’re right. So I guess Call of Duty’s 540p is high def after all :stuck_out_tongue: .

sure. 481p should be high-def. why don’t we all just start splitting hairs and see how fucking far we can go
or; just use the standard 480, 720, 1080, 1200…

in a perfect world.

How about we change this to Mw3 vs Bf3 vs POSTAL 3!!!

The Batte of the 3’s…
Yeah I just pumped this thread with a shotgun, kicked it repeatedly, tazed it, lit it on fire with gasoline, decapitated it with a shovel, threw an angry cat at it, pepper sprayed it, pee’d on it, and rode off on my segway :stuck_out_tongue:

Uh oh.

MW3 and BF3 are similar games. Postal 3 isn’t similar to either of them.

Is Postal 3 even out yet, I don’t see it on steam. I watched some gameplay, didn’t look so good.

It’s out, but only in Russia. (I think) A friend of mine pirated it with an English patch & tells me it’s absolute crap, which is sad because we loved Postal 2 so much back in the day.

Too bad you didn’t realize your segway was a quicksand pit with the word [COLOR=‘Red’]BAN at the bottom, and you’re already starting to sink.

It’s out, but not officially on steam. It’s still going through some kind of approval I think.

But they have the activation keys for sale which you can use in steam and DL it.

As for quality, it all seems up for grabs now. There’s talk of a cataclysmic patch coming out that could heal all the holes in the game… but idk. From what I’ve seen it looks like dumb fun. Excruciatingly unpolished dumb fun.

What I want to know is why the menus in games are getting so completely unreadable at 480i. All of the new HD development standards mean us SD gamers are getting shafted. Take Dead Space’s HUD for example: on the 360 it’s nearly impossible to read anything in it. Many other games are sadly taking this route also. I realize HDTVs are getting more and more widespread but I’m guessing the majority of TV owners are still in SD, hence why the Wii could get away with 480p and still sell millions of units. (Then again, this is Nintendo we’re talking about here, who could sell invisible ink to a counterfeiter.)

Yeah, I couldn’t read anything when I played Dead Space on the PS3.

If Mass Effect 1 didn’t have the Voice of The Agency reading the codex entries to me, I may have had problems on my first play :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha yeah, I had that issue too when I was playing on my old laptop.

Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts had this problem too. The text was even too small for an HD TV. Well, at least until they patched it, because there’s a minute amount of VO, and the rest of the dialog is contained in text bubbles. I like my text in large print so I can make out what I’m supposed to do.

Interestingly enough, the fine print in menus didn’t start with this generation, because I remember quite a few titles on the GCN had this problem. I don’t know if it was because the 'Cube had 480p support, but I never noticed it on either of Sony’s or Microsoft’s platforms.

Speaking of which, have you guys noticed that component cables for the GCN cost $100+ on Amazon? Apparently, they’re quite rare considering only Nintendo manufactured them for a short amount of time.
