"mrt.exe"

Hi,

My B: drive contains several folders named of random characters, all containing a file named “mrt.exe”. What is it? I tried googling it, but came up with too many different explanations to know what to do with it.

Can I just delete it? Is it a virus? I’m kind of lost here.

You fool

Thank you sir.

YOU FOOL!

Sounds, to me, like they’re remnants of the Microsoft’s Malicious Software Removal Tool. When it runs, it creates a random subdirectory, then it should delete the directory once the tool finishes, but if it doesn’t delete the directory, it should be okay to delete the remnants.

Sounds like BA is up in yo system pittyin virus fools.

Yeah, well, fuck.

Anyway, nice job blurring out all the gay porn folders :stuck_out_tongue:

I think Daniel is right, but if you still have doubts upload the file here: https://www.virustotal.com/

Thanks I’ll try that.

I’d say you’re jealous, but you probably have it all anyway.

I’m in most of it anyway.

I doubt those folders are viruses, but it won’t be long until you do get a virus if you keep using AVG.

I highly recommend Avira, the free version. Protects so much better than much of the best paid software out there, like Norton and McAffee and Kaspersky

Already made the joke

COMMON SENSE IS THE BEST AV

I thought you seemed familiar!

As for this fuss over AVG, you’ll get viruses if you keep downloading so many folders full of gay porn.

AVG aint so bad, it’s… usable.

I was going to say the same thing. I noticed it doing that too. (creating more that one running process)

lmbo

Ya, it ain’t that bad. I use Nortons though cuz u get what you pay for.

Avg is fine although it’s a major resource hog as of late, and doesn’t provide much protection like it used to, which is why I use the free version of Avira.
