The difference between the Wii and the Kinect, is that the Wii receives excellent first party support. Kinect does not. In fact, Microsoft said they weren’t planning on releasing anything else for the peripheral.
Besides the point. I was saying CoD is casual.
Can we start judging games by their content and not by how “casual” they are?
If you read the context you’d understand that it wasn’t really a negative judgement.
Doesn’t change the fact the concept of casual is fairly idiotic. Judge a game by fun.
That’s like saying we shouldn’t bother categorizing games by genres.
Categorizing by genre is different that categorizing by an entirely arbitrary and relative measure.
Ha. Ha Ha Ha. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.
You clearly don’t even know what casual game means. To enlighten you: Wikipedia. Notice that relative to most games like BFBC2, casual fits CoD perfectly: low production cost (I’m assuming the cost is low because the product is sooo full of cut corners), simplicity, small learning curve, appeal to the masses etc. There is a guideline to what is casual and what is not, it’s just a little subtle.
And yet somehow it is used in ways other than its strict definition. Face it, you use it as a negative term to describe games you personally don’t like. In conversations among gamers, a casual game is a game you don’t like because you see it as simplified and thus inferior. You’ve used it as such constantly. If you’d actually read the article, not use it as a idiotic “gotcha”, you’d discover the phrase actually refers to players of games like Farmville and other online games that people play for short times. It in no way refers even to FPSs, which have confusing controls to the uninitiated into gaming.
Which is why I said RELATIVE to games like BFBC2. CoD is the casual version of a shooter. Anyone who has even the slightest familiarity with gaming can pick of CoD in no time.
Yes I consider casual games generally inferior. Why? Well, as the article says, casual games require less dedication and commitment. A casual games is like a badly made cheap woodshop project, while a hardcore game is like a beautifully crafted cabinet. If you can put in the time and dedication, the cabinet will always be more rewarding and impressive.
Garth, you do an incredible job of undermining your own arguments.
Who in their right mind would want to catergorize games like that?
How about we catergorize games the way their suppose to be catergorised: the game is either good, ok or bad.
garrthbarrttinn i have nothing against you and my intention is not to insult u in any way, but when remembering reading all of your posts, i feel like the overal tone of your posts is to make people think your very smart. Please correct me if im wrong, its just how i feel when i see you make small simple matters more complicated than they are by adding irrevant things to it.
It’s amusing how even tho I’ve been ignoring garth for quite some time now, his raging spamming of this thread still manages to piss me off a little bit.
Jesus christ, kid, it’s just a stupid game.
Just something I thought was funny. I was playing Bad Company 2’s online the other day and my brother, who is a huge fan of CoDMW and has bought all of them since MW1, was watching me.
The game was taking awhile and he’s like “Who wants to play a game that lasts so long?” and proceeded to tell me that he doesn’t have the attention span to play games that long.
Then the subject of destructible environments came up and he said “Who cares if it has destructible environments? I don’t want them in CoD because then you can kill people with them and I just want to shoot people.”
Also he said that BC2 looked too cartoony and that MW was “real war”.
Just thought you guys would enjoy that .
I’m enjoying
Once again, that’s the saem as saying “why categorize games by FPS and RTS?”
Also, if I were trying to make a positive impression on people this is not where I’d go to do it. and in the beginning it was relevant. But it got derailed. Someone else said that CoD appeals to a more casual audience and because of that x bad feature wasn’t going to lose them any sales. It then turned into an argument over whether or not a game is labeled as “casual” is relevant.
Context, understand it.
:brow: Tell me in what context this isn’t contradictory.
I laughed at C4_4life’s comment. “Any source game looks 10 times better than any recent CoD game.” Oh Lord, extremist Valve fanboys.
Okay fuck. :retard:
I’ve been posting in this and the other MW3 thread and I got the two arguments mixed up XD. In the context of the other thread, it was not a negative judgement, in this thread, it was. Irony.
