I hope they do release it by the end of the year… I promised folks on the Fortress Forever forums that if it didnt release in 2009, I would post up my real address.

Prepare for unforeseen inbox flood
What are you talking about? Ram didn’t say anything about a ‘change’, he was describing the way we’ve been moderating this place for some time now. I’ve deleted probably dozens of your posts by now, for instance, especially in the Got a Question thread.
On which note, I’ve just deleted a load of obvious trolling and pointless responding to it from this thread. Infractions next time.
More like unsolicited visits and knocks at the door at all hours of the morning. Or more probable, “hurr hurr hurr” spam snail mail for the next year or so.
Off topic @Dillxn:
Number 1 - On your Web site, your navigation hover cursor turns to the I-bar (as opposed to the pointer hand); at first I figured they were merely text waiting for you to activate as links. Also, perhaps consider a hover color to indicate their purpose?
Number 2- In your signature on these forums, are you manually changing the time remaining each day or is there a way to automatically do such things? I can’t picture you changing it everyday, but at the same time I couldn’t tell you how to automate it
On topic @everyone:
I have no assumptions regarding the release date. The trailer said, “2009”. While some may argue, “Oh, that’s just so you know what year the trailer came out!”, it’s generally understood that a year displayed at the end of a trailer indicates a projected release time. In addition, the devs have said, in other words, “It’ll be done in 2009”.
And if it does happen to roll past New Years, for whatever reason, so be it - we’ll play it eventually and it will be awesome. :freeman:
The trailer came out in 2008.
The trailer wasn’t made in 2009.
edit: Fuckin’ Ninja’d!
Forgive my stupidity. I believe I read elsewhere on the forums that someone cited that as the reason it said 2009.
If I recall correctly, the thread said something to the effect of, “That way, when it’s 2040 and we’re looking back on the decades-long wait of BMS, we can talk about the 2009 trailer, then the 2015 trailer, etc.”
Regardless, thanks for correcting me on that issue.
Side note - I actually remember seeing the trailer in 2008 now that I think about it. Fuzzy memory
When it’s done, it’ll be done, and we’ll get to play it. No use speculating when it’ll come out; some say that it would be cool if it was 19/10/09 (I just realised that the month and year add up to give the date O.o) and yeah, it would be nostalgic (wrong word again probably but you get my meaning) and all … but many people (and this is the best example I could think of) thought that the last Harry Potter book would come out on 07/07/07 because it would be cool (wrong word again probably but you get my meaning) and they were wrong. All I hope is when I click that “Launch” button on Steam that I get something satisfactory that will be worth a long wait.
Goes back to lurking
THE PLAYTEST
and the resultant endless flood of suggestions and required revisions
I highly doubt VALVe would attempt to “make it their own” mod. They’re excited of it’s release, and although they might give pointers, I doubt there will be “required” revisions. I wouldn’t be surprised if the some of devs that don’t have professional careers already get picked up by VALVe upon release.
God. I can’t wait any longer! GIVE ME BLACK MESA AAAAA
ATTENTION! There are only 70 days left! 70 DAYS!
A lot can happen in 70 days. Entire wars have started and finished in fewer days. I even heard about a war that was over in SEVEN HOURS. I forget what that was called though.
War of 1812
sowwy guiz. I didnt do mah homework and all was held up cuz I didnt submit my awesome voice. Alas, the mod is dead.
Oh no. When did it die? This morning?
You know what’s really going to happen. The entire mod will be ready for download 1 second before the end of 2009. It’ll end up being gigs upon gigs.
It will be served on a dialup connection. You’ll strain to download it. Once you finally have the mod, you’ll happily watch it start to install. It’ll install and steam will get to 99% after days of waiting, only to find that the file shared is a corrupted version of Half life: Source. It’s all one big social experiment to see how people argue about release dates. You’ll see, oh you’ll see…:freeman:
However as I stated above, I think it’ll be released on time technically.
this sounds like bait for cockroaches that found out about the mod when this thread was posted:freeman:
