The latest twitter update suggests that they are just implementing some final details. I think the game is done with the exception of some really little tweaks.

i had a similar conclusion about the twitter update! Although I didn’t think it needed its own thread so, I posted in the Twitter Update Discussion thread. Now, some might say we are reading too much into it - but “manta ray poop chute” represents a full 25% of the substantive twitter updates so far, so it must be weighted pretty heavily IMO. On the other hand, Ramtnator had said it was “based on a post by Carlos” so I’m not sure what to think about that - since I haven’t read the original post by Carlos which is was based on. If we could find that post by Carlos I think it might shed some light on this mysterious 1/4th of twitter updates.
Or someone has made or is in the progress of making the Manta model, and Ram felt it was necessary to mention that it will include a poop ejection chute?

Thats not “too logical,” its a literal interpretation devoid of anything more logical than basic reading comprehension.
Here’s the logic:
- fact: “someone has made or is in the progress of making the Manta model”
- fact: “manta ray poop chute” is a minor detail
Conclusion 1: the manta model is essentially done, save polish.
- fact: Mantas are a Xen creature
- informed speculation: Xen is the last area of the game that requires completion, as implied by the media blackout
Conclusion 2: a near-complete manta model (conclusion 1) implies that development is focused on the final areas of the game (see points 3,4), that it is focused on polish rather than content creation (point 2).
In summary, this logic leads me to believe that the mod is in fact “almost done.” This isn’t really a controversial conclusion, we all know that there’s only 4 months left in 2009.
It’s a travesty you even have a word informed in that speculation of yours. The Xen has been is and will be in media blackout no matter the stage it’s in. For all we know it could’ve been the first part made. No amount of pre-release media will proof if Xen is done or not.
And thus you have the reason they keep us so in the dark.:meh:
