Metal Gear Solid 5

Yeah it should be a blueMSX thread.

Were there any good games for the MSXs besides the Metal Gear games?

Dwarf Fortress is usually FPS capped because the framerate is directly tied to how fast it plays. Successful forts usually die an “FPS death” when they get so complex that the game can’t run it in a reasonable timeframe anymore.

Fuck if I know, I am American. We didn’t really get into them much. Because of that we got the shitty NES port of MG.

Well, do you like Bomberman or Eggerland? Castlevania and Contra were on the MSX, too, but they were ported, so…

From Konami’s conference today, Kiefer Sutherland is the person playing Big Boss in MGSV.

Wait, seriously? I mean, Kiefer Sutherland is awesome, I loved his work on 24, and his involvement with Call of Duty: World at War is one of the high points. But it’s going to be weird hearing his voice coming out of Big Boss’s mouth instead of David Hayter’s.

I just wanted a trailer. Yeah, okay, no one specifically said there’d be one, but Kojima’s tweets heavily implied there’d be something. Probably just trying to convince people to even watch it.

And I agree with K3nny, though apparently BB will be vocalizing a lot of his thoughts through facial expression, so, we’ll see how that goes. I’m gonna miss the dialogue-heavy cutscenes.

Wasn’t one of the Metal Gear games really infamous for having like a 30 minute cutscene?

You’d miss that?

uh yeah that ruled

The ending cutscene in MGS4 is almost two hours long.

I thought that one clocked in at 45 minutes?

But yeah, MGS’s cutscenes are half the fun. The camerawork, blocking, and visual effects are expertly done.

Oh, the trailor.

  • -Shit song.

  • -Same ‘hurr-durr middle-east’ vibe we saw in MGS4.

  • -Yet another case of that ‘Afghanistan is a sandstorm desert’ boring fucking stereotype.

  • -Another uninspired and boring looking cast of shit characters. All following a good tradition set in pisswalker, nice.

  • -Child soldier = child nigga

  • -Skyrim? In my MGS?

  • -Another post-MGS3 ‘missing link’ that will have zero impact on the overall story arch and/or main characters’ development whatsoever.

Yep, we have a hit on our hands, guys. Sad thing is, its no sarcasm.

Well, some gaming and world mechanics look good - but would you really expect anything less? And have we not seen 99% of that shit shown before? If anything, another exhibit of industrial homogenizing.

Dat Quiet, would hit.

She’s mute, wouldn’t you feel weird when she’s gonna ‘moo’ some unintelligible shit when you go down with her? Oh no, wait, nevermind.

No. Nigga, cripple girls are kawaii.

Torturing and killing women and children (and other people as well) confirmed.

Yup, looks like this will finish Big Boss’s descent into madness, unless they decide to pad it out even more. I’ve wanted an open-world stealth game for years and MGSV looks like it might deliver.

The time of day aspect of the game could really make things interesting if the game goes to typical Kojima levels of detail with world-building. Snake used a supply truck to get into the compound in the trailer, but there should be plenty of different ways to tackle objectives if they’re going all-out on this. This looks so much better than Splinter Cell: Blacklist it’s not even funny.

I will miss David Hayter’s voice, though. Kiefer just sounds weird coming out of Snake, but I guess I could get used to it. Or I’ll just mentally dub it over with Hayter’s voice instead.

In before American feminists, old Christians and Fox News attack video games again.

None of those people complained about Persona 3, despite there were multiple student/teacher romances and the main characters spent the whole game shooting themselves in the head to summon monsters of virtually every religious denomination ever. Oh, and the MC is implied to fuck like half the social link list…
