Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance should “pop up on Steam any day now", says Konami.
It’s about time… thought they cancelled it.
Wait, what?
Yeah, Konami is kind of doing PC now too.
someone actually made a game with the name “revengeance”?
Ah yes, you’re revenging the vengeance.
I don’t know if it was Kojima or Platinum Games who came up with that.
“Pop up on Steam”? Weird that they didn’t really do any more marketing or even mentioning the game. They just initially mentioned it and then just what they said right now. I’m going to wait a bit to see how good a port the game is.
Now they need to report 1 and 2 (or at least 2) and then port 3 and 4. Competently that is. And then I’ll be happy.
Oh regarding this game I was ranting about on this thread a moment ago.
Here is a system requirements that you need to play this game:
I wouldn’t worry too much about that. The game engine was optimized to run at 60fps on consoles and even tho this is Platinum’s first PC port, they’re top tier guys, so I think this will be a decent port.
60fps on those consoles… hopefully the PC version has an uncapped framerate - the gameplay would look pretty spectacular at 120fps
I’m wondering that as well. They said that they’re targetting 60 fps still for the PC version. I wouldn’t imagine that if they were already going for 60 fps on consoles they would develop is with a necessary frame cap, but anything’s possible. It’s not like it would be the only game like that. Skyrim technically had a cap at 60 fps. You could remove it but it would cause the physics to do weird things. If it is capped at 60 I won’t be bothered with it and there might be a DSFix-ish thing to allow it to go higher.
Preordered it. Can’t wait. Especially can’t wait to mess with the Zangeki setting, or whatever it’s called, allowing you to raise the amount of cutting debris I suppose before things start disappearing, which I hear is near instant on consoles.

Blasted Skyrim
Framerate too low? Screwed Y-axis mouse sensitivity (might have been fixed since I played it last).
Framerate too high? Screwed physics (someone I know died from stepping on a bone…) and game timer.
So I’ve been hearing rumors that the game maxes out at 1920x1080 and you can’t go higher. Not sure how true it is but it sucks if it is true. Why are so many games coming out with resolution locks? Not locking the resolution seems like one of the easiest things to do.
At least it’s better than locking it at 720p like Dark Souls.
Besides Capcom, and maybe a few others, the Japanese games industry has next to no clue about PC gaming standards, not to mention the lack of experience in making PC ports.
Dark Souls PC came out of a team with very little experience on PC gaming, and they had a very tight schedule and budget to make a proper PC conversion, so that’s why the port came out very basic.
Deadly Premonition PC had it even rougher, with a game engine that was already not up to snuff on consoles.
But I think things are improving somewhat, Japan has seen how well PC gamers responded to both Dark Souls and Deadly Premonition, and the MGR pre-orders are out the roof, so I bet future ports will be better. We’re already seeing that with Dark Souls 2, which leads on PC.
Or it will just convince them that it doesn’t matter and to keep releasing games with arbitrary locks on framerate and resolution because they’ll sell regardless.
Well, it’s not like people aren’t complaining. The Deadly Premonition guys are all aware of Durante’s fix and the community’s reaction to the poor port. In fact they even contacted Durante directly, so an official fix might come out of that?
As for MGR, let’s see, people are already voicing their concerns on twitter directly to Platinum and Konami, so maybe there’s still time for a day-one patch.
Is there an English Platinum twitter? The only one I could find was entirely in Japanese. I already tweeted Konami.
Tweeting Konami is enough. Hell, one of the Konami PR guys hangs out on NeoGaf a lot and he’s already on the case.
One thing that I’ve been seeing is that Dark Souls actually had the frame buffer locked to 720p and it upscaled or downscaled as necessary. MGR apparently actually natively supports a bunch of different resolutions up to 1080p so it’s possible to change it. So maybe if it isn’t available in the actual menus, it will be available in a file somewhere. Hopefully.
