MECHWARRIOR MECHWARRIOR MECHWARRIOR

Yeah the original mad Cat so should have had jump jets.
While Im complaining, MRMs are totally worthless.

Yet another wrong statement.

SPlain for me then. THey dont lock on like other missiles, and they do less damamge then CLRMs ton for ton.

They lock. It was fixed.
Plus, you don’t want to use LRMs in urban environment, while MRMs are perfect for that, as they are better than SRMs, recycle faster than LRMS and pack nearly the same punch (2.40/2.60 is not a big difference).

I cried when the Mech4:Merc servers were shutdown. Bushwacker is my win bot.
Stock LRMs/SRMs, target the right torso, twisted and boomed!
Most epic kill was landing my mech ontop of an atlas and i clan-laser killed that bitch from the head, my heatsink efficiency was zero when i used that set of attack, but it’s an instant-kill move and great backup.
Mech4 will be released as freeware also, I will have to download that when it’s out.
I think Mech4 is good, I only played Merc so all my experience of Mech4 comes from that, I remember not being able to play Mech3 because the controls were so weird, said “Press something to end mission”, I couldn’t bind any key to that something, when i pressed the something it didn’t end mission, I just stayed on level1 not doing anything more. Then I got Mech4:Merc which was awesome.

I make my mechs with jump-jets, highest heat-sink ammount THEN I add as many weapons as possible. I always group all lasers for the instant kills and missles as my main damage cause. Any spare tonnage goes to ammo!

I think they would open some new servers when it’s released.

I bet they will only open the Vengeance servers (Or are they the same? Same engine, different stories, same servers?)

OMG I HOPE SO I AM REINSTALLING READY FOR THIS

MP (if they are going to be started up) will be most def Mercenaries, as it’s the most full and tweaked version.

I’ve never multiplayered mechwarrior before, how much difference is there between SP and MP?

OH YES!
I thought the series was dead!
I remember getting the puma mech, putting double PPC’s on it (I actually forgot what they were called, so I had to google it) and then running up to someones behind and killing their leg in one shot.

So we get MechWarrior 4 and the expansions for free soon. And they have it running on Vista 64x

Sweeeeeet

Schweet!

And Hi-Res hacks :jizz:

Puma has PPCs by default

There are several MP modes in MW4

  • DM (Team DM) - bscly. 1 kill = 1 frag
  • Attrition (Team Attrition) - similar to deathmatch, but damage counts. So that it wouldn’t be so fucking frustrating when some punk kills a mech you’ve been stripping out armor from for the last 10 minutes.
  • CTF - bscly. CTF, but with mechs. With 30 mechs, it arguably has even more depth than TF2.
  • Capture The Beacon - only one flag, everyone gets in a crow fight for that flag. Taken the flag - run away, killing any motherfucker in your way. Assault mechs are no-no here. Light or medium only (With a possible exception of some moderately fast heavies). Damn dramatic sometimes.
  • Escort - Each team has a VIP (light mech, no more than 35 tonnes) and extraction point. To win get your VIP to the point or kill the enemy VIP.
  • King Of The Hill (Team King Of The Hill) - hold the area. As long as you stay, you get points.

With up to 8 teams possible, no repairs and shitloads of mechs, MW4 MP is a fucking intense thing

Mektek have had a replacement up and running since M$ took the old one down.

If you have installed their MekPak3.02b for Mercenaries expansion, go into your Mercs folder and run “mekmatch.reg”. It changes the address that Mercs looks for when you start multiplayer to point to the replacement ZoneMatch server they put up.

If you’ve got MW4:Mercenaries, the expansion they made has dozens of new Mechs and weapons and is well worth installing. I usually play in the Sunder II server Sunday mornings (Saturday nights for Americans). Still lots of fun after all these years.

Another expansion is currently in closed beta testing with heaps of new electronics.

The mekmatch.reg file works for all Mercenaries versions and major mods (PR1, MP3.02b, NBT Hardcore, NetMechIV), but apparently MW4: Vengeance and MW4: Black Knight, use different netcode and don’t work.

Awesome. Lost my cd a long time ago! Can’t wait.

Good Lord its been so damn long since I played MW.

Hellbringer… and Rifleman (medium and close combat respectively).
Marauder occasionally… but not on a normal basis. Too easy to hit.
Jumpjets on all.

I also happen to be a big fan of the Gauss too.

Jesus… I may have to load it back up… wonder where it went…

Rifleman is actually fire support, FYI.

He can make his mech what he wants with how he equips it

Yeah, except Rifleman is always mesmerized in CC, whatever it’s equipped with.
If only MekTek did not screw with the rules again…

Ive only used the Rifleman with CC, and yes it was fire support. But fire support is not always from the air or from arty. Most of the time its right up there with you (hence its use as simple CC, while heavier hitters do the main damage). Its good to flank with, while having more armor than, say, the Crow (I might be misreferencing; it has been over 10 years).

Thank you Sam.

I dont know what you are trying to say here. Mesmerized? No, Im not flaming you, or trying to make fun of you. I just dont know what context you are putting mesmerized under. Normally thats reserved for describing how someone looks or reacts when they see something they hadnt expected to see.

Unless you are just saying that the Rifleman is usually canned quick in CC, no matter what its equiped with. Then I would only beg to differ with that opion, and counter saying its all in the person playing, and that while yes, the Rifleman may be canned quick, it may take a little longer than expected so long as the person behind the monitor can play well enough. That… and you should have good friends backing you up.
