Max Payne 3

I’m friggin excited for this game but it better be a damn graphical powerhouse for those recommended specs - which I’m sure it is because judging by the trailers, it looks fucking gorgeous. Or at least have a ton of content.

Fuck, where’s the pre-order button?

EDIT: WTF? Per-player bullet time in multiplayer? How are they gonna balance that?

Those aren’t really recommended specs, people are saying that those are the highest configs they’ve tested the game on. All the trailers have been on console too, so we haven’t really seen how the PC version will look.

I’m kind of on the fence about where to get this from. I really don’t want to download 35GBs from Steam (I should figure out how long that would take with my download speeds) but I would like the game on Steam. Hopefully towards release we’ll know whether it’s using Steamworks or not.

Hm, I’m wondering that too. I was thinking they could speed up your reaction time but that doesn’t seem like it would work.

Edit: At 1MBps it’ll take nearly 10 hours to download. I would imagine there would be a preload though. I hope at least.

I remember reading in a game magazine that R* and Remedy have been working together, to check in that it still is a Max Payne game and hasn’t wandered off to become something else. And as many other people here have been saying. Don’t be so quick to judge the game from trailers or reviews.

So what if he’s shaved and got a beard? I got a shiny head and beard. I think it’s nice that they’ve made something else with Max, I think it’s for the better. It’s the same old character, even darker this time around. Only thing that would indeed make me worry is the way the present the story, other than that, I’m quite sure it’ll be a blast.

Cuz face it, Max Payne is a shooter game with an “awesome” effect, but it’s the way the story and character is presented that matters for me, at least. But I’m not that worried after reading through info on the Internets.

Did you like, miss the 2 pages of people talking about how good the game looks?

I think Stranglehold MP did per-player bullet time. F.E.A.R. managed to balance the Reflex Booster into teamplay. Somehow.

Well FEAR used powerups so that works. From what I’ve seen you apparently fill by doings stuff (i guess completing objectives and killing players) and it’s a burst so you gotta refill it, and there’s others such as making enemies see their teammates as enemies and stuff.

Also it’s Area-of-effect, so it only happens to the players near you - which is a weird way of doing it but that’s good because it wont annoy everyone in the level by happening randomly

It doesn’t just do it to people near you, it only affects people in your field of view.

But what If someone’s right behind you and shooting you just out of camera view? Isn’t it wasted then?

Enemies get slowed down all the way, including their rate of fire and camera speed, while you and your teammates get all the advantages.

Tweet from R* confirming Steam achievements in the Seam version of MP3.

Anyone know if the retail version is going to use Steam DRM?

Not sure if they’ve said yet. I hope they don’t use the clusterfuck of DRM that GTAIV used. Steamworks would be a dream.

Is that the new name for the DRM?

I’ll seam your mouth shut.

As far as I can tell, it’s going to be the same deal as LA Noire. Retail version will only use the GamerShield DRM but if you buy on Steam you get achievements and maybe Steam Cloud.

Makes me wonder about multiplayer tho, a few things point towards them using the Rockstar Social Club as the online framework instead of GFWL, mainly the fact that not a single mention to GFWL has been made so far, the cover art for the PC version does not even have the Games for Windows logo in it and the overhauled RSC in LA Noire resembling GFWL which practically says they’re replacing GFWL with it.

And well, I’m all for them ditching GFWL, the less layers of DRM the better.

New Multiplayer video.

Cool - though I’m certainly more interested in the single player for a Max Payne game, if it’s good that certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing. Not too sure about the whole “vendettas” thing though.

God damnit Rockstar:

It might be similar to what Ubisoft does. If it’s released later it only has a check when you install the game for DRM. Hopefully Rockstar does that.

Fucking drool.

That actually looks really cool. Hopefully it’s as enjoyable as it looks.

Gang War looks a bit like Brink’s objectives to me.

I liked the way they did objectives in Brink.

Sucks that the PC version is released 2 weeks later, but oh well.
