Making a GIF faster

Newsflash: telling people how on topic you are is infact, OFF TOPIC.:hmph:

Ramirezoid, It’s looking good dude, hope you can get the speed sorted out, it’s be awsome then. psedo transperent looks the best IMO.

I prefer Patonki’s verion. But that’s just me liking full auto over successive bursts.

When there is a 0.1 second delay between frames, be that 2 frames for example, those frames are still being displayed at the speed of 10 frames a second.
10 frames are being displayed in a second. Those frames just happed to be looping.

No, they’re two frames with a 0.1 second pause in between them. The next two frames could have a 0.0 pause, or a 1.0 second pause between them, making your fps “calculations” rather wrong rather quickly. That’s why there’s this thing called frames per second, and why it’s different to delay between frames.

Did he say he was alternating the gaps?

why would anyone with varying frame delay not mention it? who says “yeah there’s a 0.3 second delay between frames (but thats only the first two the rest are 0.7 shhh)”

… do you even know what your are talking about? Animated gif files ARE NOT MOVIE CONTAINERS. There is not an FPS option on any gif ever made ever. Even if you have typed in one somewhere on a program the outputted gif dose not contain that information. Gifs are drawn differentially. Encoded into each frame is a frame delay. This delay tells the renderer (in this case the browser) how long to wait until displaying the next frame. So yes it is possible to manually set a frame delay of .001 between the first and second frame while having a frame delay of .2 between the next BUT for an animation to run at the desired 10 fps you would set a frame delay of .1 for every frame.

Stop “helping” people, As Will said Shasta has “helping” covered very nicely.

Also @Ramirezoid

hah I like where this drawing is going.

Hey Ramirezoid,do you use tablet for your digital drawings?
Also, very original work there! NICE SHIT !

He’s always complaining about how shitty tablets are so I dont think so

I am probably wrong here, but what if some of you actually took the picture and did it yourself and then posted back the result along with a step by step of how you did it with what program using what settings?

EDIT: Something in this thread seems too fishy to be a coincidence…

go away.

he did. look ^

He was shasta.

I can’t believe it. If he would’ve been shasta he would’ve warned us about static electricity and how it can fuck up your machine if you don’t learn about it while tinkering with the fps. :stuck_out_tongue:

I want this coloured :hmph:

I’ll just make an actual flash animation, this was a test with GIFs. I was inspired by some of the animated sequences in Problem Sleuth.

I’ve been animating shit since 2003, I have no idea what the fuck happened here with Fellow Scientist.

HELL YES[/SIZE]

bad shasta was lurking under a psudo name to avoid ban.

I hate it when people like him always try to correct you for the simplest things. :hmph:

TOPIC: I’m using Opera 10.50 at the moment (not my usual browser) and the GIF seems to be going a lot slower than with Firefox or IE8. :S

I’m using Opera as well. I tested it in IE, looked about the same. Firefox can shove it.

Seems to be back to normal now, could be the fact I was running my weekly AVG scan at the time! :stuck_out_tongue:
