Making a GIF faster

I used photoshop to create and animate this, the delay between frames is set to 0.0, but why the fuck is it so slow?

I want this to be lightning quick. What should I do? I’ve tried shrinking it and fiddling with the options photoshop gives you to no avail.

How about going to an online GIF editor, and using the method “Remove every 2nd frame”.

Also, I’m not sure how to do GIF’s inside Photoshop, so I can’t help out with that. Sorry. :FFFUUU:

Hopefully someone who knows about doing GIF’s inside Photoshop can help you. If not, editing it online is quite easy.

Here’s an example:

There’s one good editor I know, Gifninja, but it shrinks the shit out of stuff.

Which one did you use?

I used Online Image Editor.

It does reduce the quality slightly. But GIFWorks! was the best, but it doesn’t seem to be up anymore.

Your gif is actually pretty fast/smooth on Safari?

I’ve just realized, I have this problem with After Effects, when trying to save a video as a GIF, it’s to do with the compression options, never figured out a solution though.

Frames

OP: Learn about it.

:hmph:

If you don’t know someone, don’t comment about them.

I’m using Opera, where GIFs are usually way faster than they ought to be. Problem is, not everybody that might see this has safari, or has bothered to get a better browser than IE.

I’m using Firefox, and it does look slow. Like I said, I think it’s to do with the compression options.

Used gifninja, this is the result. I don’t care anymore.

How about instead of taking 0.0 for delay between the frames, which likely causes programs to just take a default value, you take a very small value which isn’t just zero yet, like 0.001?

Hello

Here it is in large size

And here it is in psudeo transparent for some reason

Turns out 0.01 makes it 0.1, but 0.02 still works

Well it might be slow for you since I have these images cached tell me what you are seeing.

Lol. Frames per second (or fps) is how many still frames are played per second. Delay BETWEEN frames is a pause BETWEEN frames, sometimes used in animated gifs etc. Like I said: Frames per second - LEARN ABOUT IT, instead of giving a huffy re-quote as if you knew what you were talking about. If you ask for help or advice, try actually taking it next time it is given.

Hello person.
FPS and frame delay are correlative.
Example: 0.1 second delay between frames is 10 frames per second.

Patonki please have my babies.

EDIT: slowed it down to a speed that should appear about the same on all browsers.

Could you have mine too? I don’t have enough financial income to support them.

Derp. 10 frames per second is 10 frames per second, or 10 still images displayed per second. 0.1s between say 3 frames is not 10fps - it’s 3 frames with 0.1s between them. A delay between frames does not equal how many frames are present. Yes, if you had a 0.1s delay between frames, you’d only get 10 frames per second max - but it does not mean there are 10 frames. It means each frame has a 0.1s delay between them, and that’s about it. There’s much more to it as well, but let’s not over-strain your comprehension “skills” all at once.

EDIT - how did it even get to this point? I suggested he learned about fps. Not frame delay. Frames per second. Some of you confused saps are babbling like idiots thinking they’re the same thing. They’re not. One is how many per second. The other is how long a pause is between each one. Derpty do dee tippity tum.

Wow. And here I thought Shasta was the biggest ass on the boards when it came to helping people. At least his posts are somewhat relevant to what the OPs need help with.

How is it not relevant? The OP was having problems with his animation frames playing at the wrong speed. I suggested he learn about Frames Per Second. He thought that was the same as Delay Between Frames. I informed him it was not. Others made the same mistake, and I explained further why they were wrong. And here we are. How is that not related to the OP? It’s a discussion on frames, speed, animation - exactly what the OP was about.
