Mafia II

Just finished it. Found it kind of sluggish both on foot & on vehicle. The shooting also needs some polish. Felt a lot like the Godfather game.

This is not supposed to be a GTA clone in the past. This is a narrative based game with a good chuck of sandbox gameplay but not as batshit insane as GTA.

Also, the game is supposed to be more realistic than GTA, hence why the combat feels sluggish and driving those old cars is a pain in the ass.

Besides the first Mafia came out before GTA3 but GTA3 stole the show completely.

That said, I completely enjoyed the demo. It ran like a dream with everything maxed and I even got a hack to stop the demo timer.

You’re right about how it ran though. It was optimized pretty well for the PC, especially in comparison to GTA IV. Which is virtually unplayable for me, running at around 20 FPS constant.

Thats a lot of supposing and not a lot of actual evidence.

You played the demo, what more evidence do you need?

Maybe you should go and fight in real life with those weapons and see if you can be more agile than Vito, and also go and drive those old cars and see if they handle well at high speed.

Then you’d have real evidence in your hands.

Also, GTA III came out in 2001, Mafia came out in 2002.

I’m starting to think he didn’t even play the demo.

Uh, I was under the impression it came out a couple of months before GTA3.

Still, I believe Mafia was announced before GTA3.

Grand Theft Auto III was released for the PS2 on October 22, 2001. Mafia was released August 28, 2002. I prefer Mafia because it actually has a story.

GTAIII was fine, Vice City was a nice upgrade but then I got bored of the whole thing and didn’t even finish San Andreas. As for mafia for some reason I couldn’t run it then I lost interest. I get bored of GTA-like games pretty fast now and didn’t even bother looking at IV.

I did. Check my steam account if you actually care, which you of course don’t.

Nope. The goal was to blindly discriminate and prosecute.

Anyway, implying Mafia 2 and GTA4 are the same thing is like saying that F1 and Rally are the same thing.

Or saying GTA3 and GTA4 are the pretty much the same thing… Oh wait.

Simmer down ladies, simmer down . . .

This game was TOO MUCH FUN. It was such a blast to play. Fantastic game. Probably gonna DL it on PC when it releases. I didn’t think the gameplay was sluggish, I just thought it was realistic and a lot like the 1st one, which is a good thing.

Just did some free roaming and hand-to-hand combat. The hand-to-hand is pretty awesome, especially the finishing moves.

Played the demo yesterday. Didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do. Will be sure to pick up a copy.

I was a bit sceptic about this game at first, but the demo was actually pretty fun. I loved the first Mafia and I am definitely going to buy this one.

It’s fucking laggy on my pc.
