Loss of Interest in BM?

Awesome cockroach is awesome.

I’ve only been really waiting since mid last year, so I am indeed a cockroach compared to some of you other folks.

I mostly don’t post much since it seems every time I do, I only manage to sound more like an imbecile. That, and it feels very much like an exclusive club here sometimes. It’s a very tight knit community and it can be difficult to insinuate yourself into that sort of atmosphere.

But I still support the mod and the developers. I still fight for you guys on other forums (pointing out how many hours you guys have sunk into the Source SDK stuff usually works).

I was mostly annoyed since I really wanted to play HL2 again and was waiting from October of last year to do a second run through right after Black Mesa. (I didn’t actually get the Orange Box until March of last year since I didn’t have my own computer that could play it until then.) But I figured to hell with it and just started playing last week (and I just made it to Highway 17).

Daishi and Wandering, you two guys are great. it is good to see some new folks with patience and understanding.

I agree, you both need to post here more often, lose the cockroach facade.

Go to the “From Pong to Phong” in Technology And Gaming. Up your post count.

…I hope I don’t draw unwanted attention with this post, heh…

Anyway, I love how for every good new guy, there’s got to be a negative Nick(y).

I’m sure my interest is the same all the time (at maximum level) ;o) I can say I’m waiting from first announcement of this mod. I checked these boards long time before I registered. And today I’m checking this forums every day even if I know it will be released “some day” Just not posting too much because of my poor translating skills.
I’m appreciating developers work as much as possible and my patience is my power ;O)
I’m sure they working hard and they doing their best all the time. We are expecting perfect mod, but this cannot be rushed i think. I’m glad they are putting their energy to finishing mod instead of smashing us with media and estimated release dates. And many people not realize that they putting their energy to finishing this mod as soon as possible in their free time. Maybe all of their free time. Can we expect more?

Oh definitely. But do we get what we expect?

Nop.

yep
At least I hope. I lost many hopes in my life even “While there’s life there’s hope”
But my hope for releasing BM will never die in my soul. I know disappointment can be huge in my situation, but when devs announce mod is canceled i will die anyway so not a big deal ;O) Anyway remake of HL1 was my dream all of the time. I dreamed about somebody will remake this spectacular game before HL2 was out. So even “maybe released or maybe not” is much more for me then nothing

Since pretty much everything about this mod has been discussed to death and we basically have bread crumbs to discuss now (Like if nose hairs are important to show or not) the forums should seem pretty dead. Yet their not, so interest is still high, and on top of that the Dev’s are still responding to posts. A few commented here in this post, and then there is the occasional pics. And unlike Duke Nukem forever I don’t think the Black Mesa team has any thoughts of switching over to a new engine ever few years.

So yea, its not dead, there is still interest and just consider them the Blizzard of the mod community if it makes you feel better.

if it doesn’t get released this summer then i guess it won’t be released in 2010 at all
and i for one have lost my patience for this mod ^^

well, thats alot better! i have some hope rejuvenated now.

…there is still spring and winter

Half life’s birthday?

You rang? :3

I have been lurking since what… 06? To this day I still check haunt these boards like… 3 times a day? Dedicated or bored… not sure. Don’t really post much… screw being sociable…

OT: Mod still looks awesome… People just ran out of things to talk about/lapsed into lurk mode.

((Bathroom Security… that pic is full of win.))

I would be highly amused by such a sight. Might give me a reason to go outside for my once a year trip… Has to be no sunlight though… can’t be turning into dust now… I have not played BM yet.

That is an amazing SS. Mad props to the dev that put that place together.

What I love are the people that say something like, “I started watching the mod in November of '09 and now it’s May of '10! THIS MOD IS TAKING TOO LONG!” It’s like people that get into traffic jams in the middle, wait a few minutes, then lean on their horn.

Yeah, because everyone ahead of them just forgot to move.

I’ve watched this mod for almost five years. Mods take time. They are worked on in free time and I appreciate what these guys are trying to accomplish.

What I do not understand is how they thought it’d be released at the end of '09 and now here we are in May of '10 and it’s not released. That is rather ridiculous.

I think, however, if they could at least keep us updated on their progress, the wait would not be so bad. There hasn’t been an update since January and that is rather unnerving.

Keep me in the loop and I will sit and patiently wait. Otherwise, I am apt to become cranky.

Oh stop it, you are making me cry :’(

Goddammit! The teleportation of vortingaunts look so damn sexy!

Loss of Interest? I don’t think so

Weird, as I remember I linked those two as well. I must have accidentally deleted them.

I was at a family birthday thing with some other BM enthusiasts in attendance (I hadn’t talked to them in awhile). The Mod came up in conversation, and they were TOTALLY uninterested and “yawny” about it.

The patience of the average (normal) person is beyond ended. They’ll catch up when it’s released May 15th.

We just use believe too much. I think we need to start a cult.

No I’m not losing interest in BM no matter how long it takes. Remember how long HL2 took to come out after HL1? Well no one lost interest then! Same thing here, and it’s much less time even.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
