Loss of Interest in BM?

i don’t see anyone who looses interest in the mod. a lot of my friends didn’t play the original and still waiting for the mod. so if there are really people who are loosing intereset, it’s their fault because they will miss a great remake then.

and if they would keep their eyes open, they would know that the mod isn’t dead! even if they’re no more media releases until the release we still get some news and information and i think it’s enough.

so it’s another worthless thread about crying “when will the mod come out”… i don’t care for those whiners but i must say that i’m tired of them… c’mon guys, that sucks massively!

They were there, but the links were broken. Maybe you made some mistake when copying and pasting them.

I preordered HL2 CE at Gamestop back when they first opened reservations for it… By the time it finally game out, my receipt was so old and faded the manager of that store laughed and gave me his employee discount for my dedication to HL. I’m still psyched about BM.

Losing interest?
Never!

A few of my friends laugh at me for following BM, and claim it will never come out. I am looking forward to the day when it goes live, so I can laugh at them like I always do when I prove them wrong. (After all, I’m always right… just that no one listens to me till after the fact.) :retard:

The same is happening with Half-Life 3, everyone are specting a date, but nobody loose interest anyway.

I check the site once every week and I know that will come out this year, 2 years ago the devs were talking about what kind of screen we wanted to see in the computers, today, they are preparing everything for the so spected release date.

I hope they upload the game at Megaupload or Mediafire 'cause the servers here will be down that so spected day.

I wonder if that date will be a surprise…

Go on devs!

My first post after YEARS of coming to this site. I haven’t lost interest. I admit the lack of updates since January make it give off the “Dead in the water” vibe but I’m just hoping we see something in the next few months to let us know things are still going.

Otherwise I’m really impressed by the work so far and I consider this a AAA title. It’s a FREE MOD that does what Half Life Source should have done. I appreciate the personal time and effort that has gone into BM so far and I wait avidly for the release.

Honestly, this is one of three games on PC I’m really excited for.

You guys are in good company because the other two are
Diablo 3
and Starcraft 2

Hopefully that gives you devs a boost of confidence because PC gaming is pretty thin these days and this MOD sits in the hierarchy of games worthy of attention.

I’ve lots of friends lossing interest. We don’t need the release date, only progress, or simply twitter entries or youtube videos as devs do until a few time ago.

95 days has been passed since last twitter update, and this not means nothing, but there are lots of mods that the community has been waiting for nothing until they have been cancelled and ~90 days without any news concerns to the people.

But… THE CAKE IS A LIE!!!

checks watch
…you took your time.

Yeah, seriously, we need updates. I don’t mind waiting and I understand that it’s free and done in devs’ spare time, but is it really that hard to type “Hey, we’ve made progress!” once a week to convince the community that the project isn’t dead? Or saying, for example, “we are currently working on the rocket textures/scientist facial system/Gonarch animations/Xen fauna…”, " is almost finished! Yay!" or "we’re having some problems with "? Posting on Twitter takes, like, 15 seconds.

Maybe Valve will offer them to host BM on Steam.

I, like many other cockroaches here, have been following this mod for quite some time now, (2007), and I also have had trouble finding a way to communicating with the rest of the community. After my hours and hours of reading and waiting on this forum, I have come to the conclusion that the loss of interest in the mod is not that people dont think that it has died, but that so much other things in the gaming community have become peoples interest that this, which has been something going on for a long time, has been a mere memory in the back of ones mind. The only way to solve such a problem, and reward those of us who follow this game, is to not give more updates, not give a release date, and just release it whenever its done. That way, one day you may come home, come to the website, and find that the game is done and ready for download. No dramatic build up, just a nice little suprise.

I think developers are simply tired about asking media / updates and that they want this done more then all of us together. I’m sure there is a reason why they are not update mass media (twitter youtube). Fresh moaners and outside people fall of sooner or later and us “the real lovers” know about progress enough and will play this mod the same day when release so no overloaded server issues ;o)
They are maybe just focusing on the mod last few months more then ever and I think they keeping us updated a lot. I just hope they will let us know at least week before release date so I can plan 1 month holliday at work ;o)

that was exactly what I thought ;o) I want this in the same way… Damn I really need some english teacher.

EDIT: It’s like I saw two screenshots in magazine about HL1, then I received a G I F T and I was so surprised and extracted into pieces about how much great that game was (ehm still IT IS) Everything was so great and new / fresh / unexpected. Today we can see so many trailers / screenshots / promises and when game finally comes out its just “woooo blah”

God if there were anymore updates/media, we wouldn’t need to play BM because we would all have already played “Black Mesa Slide Screen Edition”

Why do people keep insisting that we have to have updates, and just because the Twitter and Youtube have not been updated, then none exist?

The wiki has new media, (images,) constantly being dumped on it. The devs are actually active and post on the forums interacting with people. They have not dissapeared. I may be a cockaroach but at least I know to read the FAQ and check the wiki, as well as read the dozens of other threads asking for new media/updates.

I’m not trying to be an arse to the other roaches but come on. The dev’s don’t owe anything in the way up updates. As far as I understand Ram is the one with access to the Twitter/Youtube accounts. Poor Ram is prolly already busting arse just workin on the mod. Why distract from that begging for useless little bits of info that say “Hi, work got done.”?

Check out the wiki, tons of new screens appear there fairly often. Its good stuff. There is your updates.

[COLOR=‘black’]Please don’t mod meh. :fffuuu:

That was my idea in case something bad happen. Play HL1 and watching released screenshots from BMS at second screen. After effect should be interesting. Like hearing phrases from movie in czech even I watched subtitles and listened english audio

I think people who claim many are loosing interest are confusing interest with something else.

let’s take another example… You are really psyched about a movie, and see an early trailer with a release date. Probably, by the time that release date has come, it isn’t as fresh in your mind, but you still wanna see it. And if that release date is missed, you might be a little disappointed, but it’s not like you aren’t going to go see it just because it’s late. There’s a difference between showing active interest in something and just plain being interested. This mod, no matter how little it is updated, will always be interesting to me, because it’s friggen’ awesome. Anybody who says it isn’t friggen awesome is wrong. Yus, that’s an opinionated bias, but it’s one based in really good common opinion.

And if you are so uninterested in it, just ask the devs not to be able to play it when it comes out!*

I think it was ram who recently threatened to block certain steamID’s from being able to play it, and thought he was kidding at first, but was on another mod board where they were using steamID’s to allow certain people access to content. I don’t see why that couldn’t be expanded to prevent a mod from working entirely, so I’d be careful, lol.

They could show the latest pics uploaded to the wiki in the gallery on the front page, I bet that would keep people interested :3

Also: Hot new HECU soldier pics

How come they’re rendered with the old MP5?

They’re not all that hot and new; they’re actually kinda stale and used. I do recall seeing a newer version somewhere, sans green gas mask eyepieces… I think. W/e, these are about 3 years old (or so I hear), if not older, but still cool looking.

It’s old pics according to Ram.

Edit: Ninja’d :ninja:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
