Loss of Interest in BM?

They are probably play-testing the hell outta the game - I bet most of the game is made.

Thanks Evan for a sensible post

The game will be ready when large apples.

accidentally the whole thing

from what i remember it was always like this, they schould have gotten used to it by now ;D

I actually suspect your reason is correct, but that it’s not so much because of a lack of community support.

I suspect that it’s not as fun because a) in a long project, fatigue sets in; and b) all the fun parts are probably finished, leaving only the tedious stuff.

It’s pretty common for volunteer-based projects to peter out or even die on the vine because the people working on them lose interest once the easy, interesting parts are finished. That last 10% that takes half of the development time is a real drag.

Also, it’s not as easy to make a gigantic, crazy awesome mod for Source as it was for GoldSrc. This is pretty much my biggest argument against the need for improving graphics. When graphical standards go up, the same goes for the mods, and we don’t end up with dozens of quality mods for a game, but only a few.

Ya the developers need some support. Its hard to win a war if the people are not behind it and its hard to mod if your potential players have given up hope.

WAY TO GO BLACK MESA MOD TEAM!!! YOU HAVE TRULY CREATED SOMETHING MAGNIFICENT!!!

I think it’s far easier to mod if you aren’t constantly bothered by people asking “are we there yet?”

I think it’s a blessing for the devs that people have lost all hope in the mod ever coming out. That means that the forumites will stop complaining and be all the more flabbergasted when the mod finally comes out. (Yeah, as if that’s ever gonna happen).

I don’t think it’ll come out - at all. I lost hope for everything when they said they’d make a 2009 release date and never did. Now they say 2010 and it won’t happen. I lost all hope for this mod.

Then WTF are you doing registering on THIS forum???

I really don’t understand why a thread like like this even exists… If I lose faith in something, I forget about it and move on, not bitch about it. So I ask for the sake of all the forumer’s nerves to delete this goddamn thread!

People, dont loss interest,I think its too hard to develop this titanic mod,its normal that devs delayed the release, they probably found a lot of problems,or any coding difficult, anda think to developing a mod practically from 0 is very difficult,I think in this year will be done, dont worry…
During the waiting you also play other games, there are a bunch of games, for example now im playing left 4 dead 2.^^^^

Anyone who makes their first post as “I lost all hope for this mod.” should be banned for a day. :meh:

I lost all hope for this mod.

But wait!
It’s not my first post! :3

jk anyway.

To avoid cockroaches to create a thread just to say how they lost their interest. Then the developers can just ignore this thread and the moderators lose less time locking stupid cockroaches’ threads.

winner!

Every gaming related site and forum I visit, from time to time gets a new thread or post about Black Mesa. I discovered the mod in late 2005 and I’m amazed how 5 years later, there’s still new people finding and talking about it. Sometimes it’s directly related to Black Mesa and sometimes people are just talking about HL2, HL:EP3 or some other Valve project and the mod comes up.

So, in my opinion there’s no big loss of interest in Black Mesa. I think some people hear about it, think it’s great, talk a bit about how it’s great, then just subscribe to the thread where they heard about it and patiently wait for the mod to get released. And then there’s other people who come here and try to get every new piece of info they can on the mod, or simply stay and enjoy the community. Some might eventually get frustrated with the wait/trolls/cockroaches and start getting away. And some (maybe a lot), like me, just keep visiting this site for years and never register, even if they don’t have a reason not to (like me).

One thing I know, is that when the mod gets released, all the gaming forums and sites will talk about it, all the social web will buzz about it, and this site will go down with the load. Ok, I don’t really know, but I’m pretty sure.

Losing hope is dumb. becoming impacient and bitching is normal.

BUT trying to encourage the team to wrap this shit up and deliver the goods[/SIZE] is what should be done.

Err… no reply in 2 days.

Which totally means you should post in it :hmph:

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
