Loss of Interest in BM?

Did you read what he just said? Or are you just trying to make problems?

i wanted to know what YOU think how far they are! not from the dev’s… reading --> thinking --> writing

Since the topic of Black Mesa being dead keeps popping up and people keep complaining about the lack of new media and getting on the nerves of the forum members a minor update to the frontpage might be helpful.

My Idea is that in the updates section the link to twitter could be removed and instead a link to the Gallery of new Files in the Wiki is displayed. Maybe together with a small note that there won’t be any further updates elsewhere until the release.

Just trying to be constructive  what do you think about this?

Just remember the less we see of it, the MORE we will see of it, if you undertsand. i dont wanna see a picture of every vent shafts and corridor corners, therell be nothing new/exciting about it then.

Patience is a virtue.

I am going to quote one of our developers to answer this…

:3

Oh… and to quote ANOTHER developer

gallery of new files on wiki == that random image gallery on the website frontpage

I agree, and trust me I know dead forums. I don’t know if anyone knows what I’m talking about but I used to mod the Falling Sand games and visited the forums frequently (just one of the many I’m on) and you would have to wait like a week for a new post. I think i recently revisited that forum after about 2 years and it felt like there was maybe one page of new threads. :meh: The wiremod forums aren’t that different either. Anyway, the moral of my monologue here is that you should be happy the forums have the activity that they do now.

wow man, you got me. hit the nail on the head imo

fuck me, the source engine is getting old, just played some newer games, and this not look good O_o

i think it looks good, but not great. ask me after Portal 2 comes out, and i might be less optimistic

the mod is indeed taking too long to release for something that has been so hyped by its devs and community. Despite it’s freelance origins, the backlash is mostly justified, imo.

The devs have only themselves to blame for any negative feedback they’re getting.

[COLOR=‘DarkSlateGray’](i’ll still play it tho)

Sooo true.
Also i feel that even calling it good but not great is a big streach, looks like flat shaded screen from the editor, no shading, no post procesing, cant see any normal maps, no specular, and the really small amount of polies used to make teh rocks and the uniform texture dont help. And there seems to be some god awfull color colerection filter aplied ;/

Sure its only a fan mod, but i always had hopes it would hold up to some of the games that beying realeased now ;/ Yeah i think i know what op ment by loss of the interest and to high expectation coused by the long wait.

I don’t know how you can really compare the mod with games that are being released now…games that are superior because of better technology, mass amounts of money, as well as much bigger teams.

None of that should matter anyway. The goal is to recreate Half-Life 1, so therefore the mod should be compared with HL1. Judging from the media, this mod will be far superior to HL1.

nobody’s saying otherwise. I just think they need to stop dragging their asses with last minute bullshit and release the damn thing, or at least be a bit more HONEST with the community regarding progress.

yeah thats what happens when a game gets hyped for so long and expectations get crazy ;]

You have no basis of evidence to say either that they are ‘dragging their asses with last minute bullshit’ or that they are being dishonest with the community. You however, just gave us publicly viewable evidence that you habitually talk out of your backside. :stuck_out_tongue:

It took you that long? :retard:

edit: my previous statements still stand :freeman:

Black Mesa is mentioned third after Duke Nukem Forever and StarCraft: Ghost on the Wikipedia entry for “vaporware.”

Cool story bro. Whats that supposed to prove?

That people are becoming skeptical of its release, obviously.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
