The only thing about this mod that bothers me is that they’re changing the gun sounds. Will I somehow be able to switch the sounds back to the originals?

I haven’t lost interest in Black Mesa itself, but I have lost interest in the community. Everything has been discussed to death and beyond, and since I have not seen any new information for months(I think the last interesting thing was the interview with that Australian gaming magazine).

I’m content to check the forums once a month, and patiently wait.

But seriously, all this “you beg for media = you’re a childish whiner and have to grow up” clichée blupp blupp is sometimes as annoying as those youtube guys.

It is not forbidden to ask questions but after 5 years there are not so many Questions that weren’t answered … plus if you see dunno 30th post about asking “when it is done?” it really pisses you off.

They’re remaking the best game of all time for free. That alone warrants my unconditional support. (Shame that the only way to express it is to flame stupid gargs. Oh well… :theatrical sigh: )

Therein lies the fallacy. Everyone won’t be happy. Never will there be a condition wherein everyone is happy. It’s not possible.

So, since you can’t ever make everyone happy, why waste time doing pointless stuff to theoretically keep the community morale higher (like posting screenshots or constant news updates)?

Believe it or not, but the developers’ aspirations here do not revolve around doing things to attempt to appease you, or any other whining fan; their goal is to create this mod, and that’s just what they’re doing. Anything and every single thing else they do to make you happy (like the tons of previously released media and updates) is something above and beyond what they set out to do.

Man-up, grow a pair, and realize that you do not deserve anything at all from these people - be glad you’re getting this mod at all.

Testing can take a long time, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Testing can sometimes be just as important as developing - what if crap is developed but not tested? Then crap is released, and people complain. I have been waiting a long time for this mod but i don’t mind. Sure the missed 2009 release disappointed me, but like a lot of other people, i got over it.

Waiting for this mod for a long time? Pfft, I was waiting for Starcraft II for longer - if I can wait for SCII, I’m sure I can wait for this mod as well - except if it comes out after i graduate and don’t have time to play it :’(

But i have a gut feeling that won’t happen.

I think at least Black Mesa has an excuse (I have no clue if they do), but Firearms: Source’s excuse for taking so long is beyond unacceptable. They basically said in one of their videos “WE TOOK SO LONG BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE EXPLOITS IN GUN RELOAD ANIMATIONS.” What the fuck? It doesn’t take that long to perfect gun loading animations…I’m sure that’s not what VALVe was doing for 6 years. :meh:

Oh yeah, and in response to Bloodshot; Blizzard died to me after WOW: Burning Crusade…I can give them that SC1 was kinda good…but Blizzard just liked to rake in that money, and then Activision Figured, OH HAR HAR LET’S BUY OUT BLIZZARD SO WE CAN BE SUPER MONEY WHORES. I never liked Blizzard anyway, truthfully, I don’t think I even paid attention to who made SC1 and WC3 until WOW.

Yeah, blizzard died to me when they realized how much money they had with WoW, and i really didn’t care for WC3, but I kept some hope for Sc2 because the first game was so perfect, i didn’t really think they’d change it that much, and i played the beta and it was pretty good. I just don’t like the whole battle.net bullshit where they are making you log in to play LAN. One of the reasons starcraft was cool was because of the huge lan games you could have, but since you have to go ONLINE to play it what is the point? It just ensures more money in their pockets since you need multiple copies to play together. and whatever happened to spawn? They shipped the game with a lighter version for lan and online gaming so you wouldn’t need another one to play with other people.

The main reason i dislike them though, is for firing blizzard north from diablo 3. It looks like crap compared to the other two. 1 is still a great game though.

Blizzard is amazing tbh. WoW is great for what it is, a payed MMORPG. All of their games so far have been amazing (WoW being debatable), as is their continued support and patching for WC3 and even SC. Battle.net is an awesome online service, although I agree that LAN should be just that, LAN.
