Loss of Interest in BM?

I hope I’m not the only one thinking of a demo only involving the tram ride and ending after Gordon enter the testing chamber… just for a feel of the game. Then again just thinking of that would get me banned.

I “feel this mod” so bad from the first day I saw first media.

  1. This mod doesn’t need a demo. I think demo is for decision (buy or not)
This mod is about download or download it faster when it’s done.

  2. Making demo just will take out more time (so 3 months waiting for a demo and next 4 months for full mod… ee… ;o)

EDIT: or… release demo after full mod. Like Uplink did :stuck_out_tongue:

Somebody else said it very clear-like. This doesn’t need a demo. We already know the quality of the game, and we (most of us) trust the devs, so their quality isn’t in question (hopefully) either. If this were a big-ticket, 60 dollar game, I’d like a demo, but as it is, it’s unnecessary.

You’re not banned yet. So apparently you’re wrong.

Been following the mod since it original name of Black Mesa Source and interest has not waned 1 iota. I would rather wait for a mod that has a shiny sheen of completedness rather than a mod released by coders that have an attitud of ‘Ahh that will do it has a few bugs but stuff them’

Saying that i am sure some commercial games would of been better having a team like the mod devs off here running them so that all glitches are fixed before release.

They won’t release any Xen media, they made that decision years ago.

They already decided that there won’t be a demo, it takes too long to get a demo done, besides, progress on the mod isn’t linear from the start of the game to the end, they’re working on all levels, models, etc, so they still couldn’t release a demo.

Well that’s good news.

Do you know why?

To make the final Xen better for us players, presumably.

We’ve seen screenshots of most of the game, but the part that has the most different aesthetics will be Xen. It’s a clever move by the Black Mesa Developers tbh, it ensures they’ll have a lot of people talking on the forums for a while after the release.

Keep up the great work BM!

They won’t give that away.

Like something Miyamoto said “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.”

Rule #1: You do not talk about Xen
Rule #2: YOU DO NOT TALK ABOUT XEN

I think the primary problem with Duke Nukem Forever was they had no plan. No one knew what the finished game was supposed to look like, which isn’t a problem here.

Xen sucks and they are hiding it until release.

Well, if it is of any consequence, let’s take Mass Effect for example.

ME (1) was virtually unknown to most during conception, and ‘barely there’ when released.

Later on down the road, when Mass Effect 2 let loose a torrential flood of newcomers to the series, polls have shown 87% of players went back and bought/played ME 1.

I don’t see why anything will be different here. Besides, let them work. Less time trolling and more time coding!!

Mass Effect ‘barely there’ when released? It was one of the biggest games that year :hmph:

Wasn’t a very big year. In fact,it was a year of dissapoint.

What year is this you speak of again?

I think he is referring to 2007, the year mass effect was released.

God of War II, Guitar Hero III, The Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Super Mario Galaxy, Uncharted, Halo 3, BioShock, and Mass Effect. Nope, not a big year.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
