Left 4 Dead, the Prequel

It’s official guys! We’re (probably)[/SIZE] getting another L4D game before the next HL game! Yay!

Overkill and Valve are collaborating on some sort of crossover between Payday: The Heist and Left 4 Dead but we don’t know exactly what this “blend” of the two games will actually be. CVG are claiming that the crossover is a new game that takes place before the events of the original Left 4 Dead. There is no source given for this statement which is simply

In the mean time Valve have updated their in-game poll to ask Left 4 Dead 2 players if they will be attending PAX Prime this year. Perhaps we’ll hear more info about this crossover there?

The name isn’t L4D: The Prequel ofc- at least as far as I can tell. If it is, that isn’t very clever.

Today some random dude told me that it’s just DLC for Payday: The Heist, and not an actual game.

Can’t argue with a source like that.

A rep of dev Overkill told CVG,

“As perceptive gamers will have noticed, several hints have recently been dropped into Payday: The Heist, which has led to various rumors,” a statement read. “We are excited to be able to confirm that an in-depth collaboration between Overkill and Valve is currently in production.”

“We are working on a very cool blend of Payday and Left 4 Dead. I am sure it is so exciting that it will have some players check into the hospital before we are done.”

Well, I love L4D2 and I really enjoy Payday(never thought I would though).

Really, this is pretty exciting for me tbh.

It sounds like it could actually be cool. I don’t mind the lack of Half Life news if we get stuff like this instead.

Also, just because the beginning of the project was confirmed, doesn’t mean it will release first. Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced before Borderlands.

I’m both excited but also a little pissed off. If this is true, that’s 3 L4D games in the timespan since HL2Ep2. I mean, what the hell? Still love the L4D series though so this still peaks my interest.

So it’s probably not a game. ‘Bo’ of Overkill apparently said on SPUF they aren’t working “on any full games” at the moment.

So if ‘Bo’ speaks the truth it’s probably going to be content for PD or L4D(2).

My guess is it’s a pay day DLC or L4D DLC. I doubt it’s a full-fledged game and doesn’t really even sound likes it has much involvement on Valve’s part besides giving the go-ahead. If it does turn out to be something Valve is heavily involved in then I’m pissed. I’m tired of L4D, that game was fun, now let it go before it becomes a cash cow.

I currently read a news where Chet has denied that Overkill and Valve are working on any L4D related game.
