I’m gonna be honest, I’m not the best when it comes to doing something like this, but I think this may be of some interest.
I attempted one once. The levels loaded up fine, but there were obvious issues with it. One of the zombies appeared to be only half textured with weird, white splotches all over her.
Also, when I went back to load the normal L4D2 maps, the “fly in” beginnings weren’t flying in correctly and just had me randomly below the survivors sitting there looking through the level, sometimes at odd angle. I also think I saw some performance issues, but that might just have been a fluke since I’m probably pushing me computer by attempting maxed out settings.
None of the audio was really working in L4D1 either. I couldn’t hear any horde music, and just no real background music at all. Occasional ambiance, but mostly it was just eerily quiet.
did you copy over all the l4d1 assets as well then? possibly overwriting stuff.
Also I think you have to mess with the .vpk files to make it work as well.
I followed step-by-step instructions on L4Dmods on how to modify the .vpk files to work, which folders to merge, and what files to override with special bug fix files.
I think it worked, it’s just a little buggy for my taste. I’ll wait for the idea to either be perfected, or for an official DLC with it.
Eric Fong strikes again. :3
Hey L4D2 is already 25% off ! At this rate Valve will offert 50% for Xmas.
Too bad for people who pre-ordered it last month.
I paid 33.75 for it via the 4 pack, so I’m still good even with that price. However as a pre-black Friday deal, Dell had L4D2 for $29.99 (31.79 after tax). That’ll make a great xmas gift for my friend.
I just got the first one for cheapsies in the insane sale that’s going on right now. If I wait long enough, L4D2 will drop below ten bucks and then it’ll be worth it. By then, I might even have a computer that can run it smoothly. (After all, it only took one year for L4D to get down to $7.50.)
I think valve’s doing quite a bit now to keep the faith of their user base. With the DLC announcement and the 33.75 price per person for the 4 pack pre-release, I don’t think you’ll get that much out of a brand new game from any other company. Just wish I didn’t have to operate 2 different servers for both games.
I like how the person in the interview said “Left 4 Dead 2 DLC 1” as in the first DLC.
2 DLC’s have been pretty much confirmed by people digging around in the game files.
Tasty.
I don’t know if you are, but if you’re referring to the so-called ‘Miracle’ and ‘Apocalypse’ packs then you’re out of luck.
EDIT: Ignore. From the Demo. Bah.
Children, I bring before you, a weapon crafted by the modders themselves, !THE HAMMER OF THOR!
One of my colleagues at l4dmods.com seems to be nearing the completion of his holy weapon.
Sexy.
Kind of off-topic, and I know I’m replying to an old post, but did anyone else pick up Left 4 Dead during the recent sale? It cost me $7.50 US plus tax.
The fuck are “RM” are short form of “Ringgit Malaysia”, money of the fuck in malaysia, got it? I bet not.
Edit: How come my Left 4 Dead 2 Hard Rain don’t have any rain?
Does anyone else just adore how bots will stand right next to you for a good five seconds without doing anything when a jockey or charger is on you?
Funny you should mention that,
Updated today too.
