ok… So I bought L4D2 for $5 during the give and get event.
after I downloaded it for like 15 hours… I played it.
Everything was fine BUT the guns are all silver and shiny. Help?

Yeah, that’s the game punishing you for playing it with a gamepad.
I’m using a keyboard and a mouse just like what most pc gamers have.
anyways… here’s my computer specs. used steam.
It’s a bit old but it still works pretty fine. If i need an upgrade… what would it be? I can’t buy a new computer yet so this will have to do for now.

Are the video drivers updated? Have you verified the game files? Have you tried changing the graphical settings around?
BTW, I’d recommend at least getting one more gig of ram.
While one more gig of ram would definitely help with performance it shouldn’t be whats causing the issue.
I would update the video card drivers, as was suggested (at the time of writing this is the latest driver, see if that doesn’t fix it.
forgot to mention… when I set the shader settings to medium… the guns go back to normal, any higher than that would make the guns go silver and shiny again.
There you go. Keep it to medium then. The graphics card probably can’t handle more than that.
Well I don’t want it on medium settings. I can’t see rain, fog, or any weather effects. the “hard rain” level looked ugly in medium settings. I’m trying out the video driver update… I’ll be testing it soon.
BTW… A friend gave me a pirated (non-steam) L4D2 copy a few weeks ago so I was able to play L4D2 (my bad for accepting it). I loved it and that’s why I bought it so I can play online. It didn’t have any problems like this before.
There really isn’t any other fix than changing the shader settings to medium.
A friend of mine had the exact same problem.
The only solution would be to upgrade your GPU, it’s not even that expensive anymore!
What’s should I do?
Upgrade to 4 cores?
or
Buy a new video card?
which would I have more benefits besides L4D2.
A quad core has more benefits, but it won’t fix your problem. If you want the guns fixed just change your GPU.
I wonder how many times people will have to say ‘get a new card’ before he realises he needs to get a new card.
Ahhhhh……………when I saw “Left 4 Dead 2 Silver Guns” I thought they came out with a new campaign.
No, don’t upgrade your processor yet. The graphics card would give you a much larger boost in FPS, and your dual core shouldn’t be TOO much of a bottleneck (you could try overclocking it since its frequency is a little low).
No one said “get a new card” before you.
But anyway… I’ll buy a new Video card and a 1 more gig of ram.
Thanks to everyone who helped me.:retard:
newe gpu = newer shader options right?
hmm thats the spec maps going really bright. try restarting the game?
And lets assume hardware isnt to blame.
BTW, I think that glitche has to do with HDR. As long as HDR isn’t on I don’t think you should have trouble. And buy a new card.
Do some research and make sure you buy the correct ram and gfx card for the correct slot.
Isn’t the HDR option turned on or off by changing the shaders to high or medium?
It just means better graphics overall.
So, you made a choice of wich gpu you’re gonna get?
OH, and I don’t think 1 gb more of RAM will be enough, these days you’ll need at least 3-4 gb.
