Launch Details Discussion

I could hardly believe my eyes the other day when I saw this on Greenlight. I almost cannot wait until 15:47 on Friday!

Good work, guys and gals, lets show 'em how to burn the internet!

Give that smartphone a good sharp whack on the top of the desk as soon as the stack of pizza’s is delivered.

Hubi’s OP is a separate, locked sticky.

Here, I had this in the GreenLight thread in regard to torrent option… I am not an expert per se, but I do have some experience:

…many of us plan to do torrent, as many of us expect that to be the safest (bet), fastest and most efficient means of getting BMS as quickly as possible come Friday… Go get yourself uTorrent, install, spend 5min mastering, practice downloading something (does not need to be anything illegal), be sure to click PEERS tab so you understand what is going on and how connections to peers works… and be ready for torrent links to be here on Friday. And if you are new to torrents, what you need to understand is that when you are torrenting (as it were), you are part of a download machine… the more peers connected, the more powerful it is, and thus download speeds, for the most part, will blow your fucking mind… you may actually end up getting dl speeds that you were unaware your connection was capable of… this has been my experience.

Another thing: if you are doing torrent, and you have two machines, download on pc1, toss the fucker on a thumbdrive or dvd or copy over network to pc2… and KEEP SEEDING (starts seeding automatically, by default)… ALL DAY LONG… do your part, bros. (I personally have never tried torrenting something while doing something important (like play BMS) on the same machine as torrent pc… and uTorrent is supposed to have a very small footprint where resources are concerned… who knows… may work great doing all of the above on 1 pc)

Myself, and some others, feel it is likely that the downloads are perhaps going to start a tiny bit slow during the very first moments, but then is going to keep speeding up and up, until we are at max download capacity… if anyone disputes this, please come foward.

Does anyone know why Source sdk base 2006 goes from “not installed” to “download paused” when you install Source sdk base 2007? Is it safe to delete the 2006 sdk?

Parts of 2006 are shared by 2007. Trying to delete from steam yields a lovely message stating “can not delete source sdk base 2006 since its data is used by the following games: Source sdk base 2007”

“Resuming” the 2006 SDK base after installing the 2007 SDK Base won’t take long to reach the “ready to play” status anyway. (And I have a very slow connection).

I did that, but technically you don’t have to.

I’ve never had a problem doing that on one PC. I usually copy the file from the torrents folder to another folder, then extract it from there, then use (even while seeding). Maybe this doesn’t work on some older machines.

If only this was 24 hours and not 2 days and 4 hours  :freeman:

Is it ok to get excited now?

Yes, but there’s no real need to keep posting giant pictures of the page every time a vaguely interesting number comes up.

But it’s fun! And probably prevents members with less…fortitude from exploding. Or something.

Ohhhh cant wait until 1337 its going to be so awesome and fabulous!!!

Will the game be localized into other languages? Such as Russian, Spanish?

Yes. Spanish subtitles are already in.

What about predownload of the mod. For when it will be released we need to download a few meters to start it?

Pre download starts in 46 hours and 22 minutes, same as all other Black Mesa downloads.

A pre-download is not needed. It’s not a commercial game that you paid for, and when you finish downloading there is no “unlocking”, you just install it. They chose to release this game at that date for a reason. The only thing being able to download it earlier would do is make the release earlier.

Will the download options/links be posted also in the Facebook page and over twitter?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
